College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
The College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of OUC was founded in 1959, and was one of the first nation-wide colleges approved to confer Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in marine chemistry.
The College has three departments including Marine Chemistry, Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The college owns an Education Key Laboratory of Marine Chemical and Marine Chemical Engineering, a provincial Key Laboratory of Marine Physical Chemistry, a Key Laboratory of Marine Fine Chemicals in Qingdao and an institute.
In this College, Marine Chemistry is a national key discipline and a key discipline to be developed for “Project 211” and "Project 985".
The College is now offering two Ph.D. programs in Marine Chemistry and Marine Chemical Engineering and Technology, seven Master programs in Marine Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
The research facilities, with a total value of more than 22 million RMB, are adequate for cruise survey, in-situ experiments, laboratory analysis and numerical modeling.
The College is also taking the lead in such research fields of marine chemistry in China as the research on the interfacial adsorption theory for marine physical chemistry and the material flux theory for estuary biogeochemistry.
The researchers and professors in this college are internationally recognized and renowned. In the last five years, more than 100 research projects with a total amount of 30 million RMB have been granted to the researchers in the College.
More than 500 research papers have been published in the academic journals, among which about 200 have been included in SCI (Science Citation Index) or EI (Engineering Index). A total of 15 invention patents have been granted to the College, and more than 10 books have been published.
Faculty and Staff Members
The College has 87 faculty and staff members. Among them there are one academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, a nationally recognized and excellent teacher, 20 professors, 13 associate professors, and 11 Ph.D. supervisors.
The College has over 800 registered students, including 300 master or Ph.D. students, and over 550 undergraduate students.
