Information for RegistrationInformation for Registration Welcome to Ocean University of China (OUC)! Please read the information below carefully to ensure that you register correctly. Newly recruited students shall bring the Admission Notice and a Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 Form) to apply for a study visa in Chinese Embassy or Consulate in his/her country. Students who Study in China for less than 6 months can get F visa. Students who study in China for 6 months or more need to bring the Admission Notice and a Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 Form) to apply for X visa in Chinese Embassy or Consulate in his/her country. And he/she needs to have the medical examination done in the hospitals designated by Chinese Embassy. Students holding X visa must register in OUC within 20 days after entry. On arrival, the Administrative Department will guide the ISs holding the Physical Examination Certificate for Foreigners to the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Health Quarantine and get the Health Qualification Certificate. Fees of the medical examination is RMB60 (it is a blood test taken on an empty stomach). Those who don’t have the record form and those have disqualified items on the form are required to go through physical examination again at the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Health Quarantine.Fees of the medical examination is RMB485. Students must register with the local public security departments for temporary stay within 24 hours of his/her entry. Those who live in the International Student Center will get the registration automatically on the Front Desk. Those who live outside of the International Student Center need to register with the local public security department for temporary stay with his/her passport and Rental Contract. Otherwise, he/she will be unable to go through the visa formalities and he/she will be fined RMB500 or more. According to the Temporary Regulations Governing Insurance Purchasing of International Students at Institutions of Higher Learning issued by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the IS must buy a student group insurance package after their arrival.The group insurance premium of IS at OUC is RMB60 per year, RMB30 for six months. The opening of class ceremony is held for the new academic year, which is an important meeting at which IEC provides information concerning visas, holidays and other major issues. All the newly registered ISs must attend the ceremony on time. For specific details, please refer to the Information for Registration, which will be get when he/she comes for registration. Tuition fee needs to pay off in one lump sum when he/she registers. And it is only payable in RMB. Please keep the receipt safely. Four bare-headed and full-faced passport photos are required to be prepared. For more information, please refer to the International Student Handbook of Ocean University of China. I. Arrival OUC has three campuses: the Yushan campus and the Fushan (Maidao) campus are located in the downtown area, as well as the Laoshan campus is located in the eastern area. Please read the Admission Notice carefully and confirm the campus you are going to study at. The International Education Centre (IEC) has offices on both the Yushan Campus and the Fushan Campus. Fee: about¥15+¥15 Time: about 70 minutes Fushan Campus Take a taxi. (Ref. above) Fee: about¥ 65-¥75 Time: about 50 minutes Take a taxi to the main entrance of the Fushan Campus directly. (Ref way 1) Fee: about ¥30 Time: About30minutes Take the airport bus and get off at the final stop; then take a taxi to the main entrance of Fushan Campus, and proceed to the International Education Centre. Fee: about ¥15+¥20 Time: about 80 minutes Laoshan campus II. Accommodation ( Reception: 0086-532-85901888; 0086-532-85901968) According to Chinese law, regardless of visa type, all international students must register for a temporary stay in hotels appointed by the Public Security Bureau within 24 hours of his/her arrival. Otherwise, he/she will be fined. Overseas students are required to reside in campus dormitory provided by the university. Certain students with particular circumstances may be exempt from this rule. A contract will be signed with the International Education Centre of OUC. Three months rent must be paid to the International Education Centre in advance, along with a deposit of RMB 550. All rooms are equipped with bedding, television, air-condition, closet, study desk, telephone, bath room and other necessities. The deposit is returned provided there is no damage when check out. All rooms have internet access points. It costs you RMB 50 per month for using internet. Please take computer with yourself. There is net bar for students’ using in the student’s dormitory building. It is free. For those students who have reserved rooms but arrive late, please inform us in advance. Otherwise, the rooms may be reallocated. III. Registration New Student Registration Newly recruited students shall bring an Admission Notice and a Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 Form) to handle registration formalities at OUC within the prescribed time. The Admissions Office for the IEC at OUC (Room 111 and Room 113 of the teaching building on the Fushan campus) 1. An IS who resides on campus shall take his or her passport, the Admission Notice and the JW202 Form to complete lodging procedures in the IEC dormitory buildings on the Fushan campus or the front desk of the Golden Hotel on the Yushan campus. Those who reside off campus, such as hotels or residential houses, must apply for the valid Temporary Resident permit issued by the hotels or the local police station. Avoid checking into non-foreign-related hotels. 2. An IS shall take six bare-headed and full-faced passport photos to the Admissions Office, present his or her passport, the Admission’s Letter and the JW202 Form to the registrar, fill out the Registration Procedure Sheet for International Students of OUC, and obtain the International Student Handbook of OUC. 3. An IS shall pay fees in the Financial Office (first floor of the IEC dormitory building) with the Registration Procedure Sheet for International Student issued by the registrar on the Fushan campus. 4. An IS shall complete the visa registration procedures with his or her Registration Procedure Sheet, invoice for tuition payment and passport in the Management Office for the IEC (Room 115). 5. Language students shall buy books and check their required classes in room 112 of the IEC teaching building with their Registration Procedure Sheets. Students for academic degrees shall register, select classes, buy books and check their streamed classes in their colleges and departments with their Registration Procedure Sheets and Admission Notice. 6. An IS shall go to the Quarantine Bureau of Qingdao International Travel Health-Care Center for health certification or physical checkup. 7. ISs shall attend the opening ceremony for the new academic year. For the convenience of the students, a registration office is set up on the first floor of the IEC teaching building. The registration procedures of the one-stop service are as follows: IV. Visa (Student service section: 0086-532-85901887) 1. For those students with an X visa, the Physical Examination Records for Foreigners obtained in mother country must be certified at the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Shandong Province (located in Qingdao) along with a certification fee of RMB 60. 2. For those students with an L or F visa, who want to obtain a residence permit (RMB 400/half year), it is compulsory to have physical examination (RMB315) at the Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Shandong Province. 3. Any student, who needs to extend their residence permit or change their visa, needs to have it done in the Student Service Section ten working-days before the expiry date. Subsequent expenses are paid by the student. If his/her visa is not arranged in time for personal reasons, the university will not accept any responsibility for consequences ensued. A fine of RMB500 per day will be imposed on students for overstaying. He/she will be asked to leave the country within a certain period of time by the Public Security Bureau. |
