Objectives:
This program aims to turn out public administration specialists who have armed with a good command of the basic theory of government and organization and a sound knowledge of government operation, management and modern office routines. They should be capable of working efficiently in English and Chinese in administrative organs of government and non-government departments, social organizations and modern enterprises.
Overview:
Public administrators who want to pursue managerial or leadership careers in either the public sector or in government positions should consider a degree in public administration. Earning a degree in public administration will help you develop the skills and gain the insights needed to plan and help formulate policy, and to manage, organize, and implement operations in the public arena. The curriculum for public administration program is designed to help student develop competencies in personnel management, policy analysis, budgeting, organizational behavior, business management, and research methods. Students also explore the legal, social, economical, and political contexts of public administration. A major in public administration prepares students to manage public service in either the public sector or in government positions.
The Bachelor of Management in Public Administration Program exposes students to valuable theoretical knowledge and best practices in the areas of management, organizational behavior, research and evaluation, e-business, and critical thinking and problem solving. In the ADM program coursework, the curriculum addresses critical business issues in the areas of diversity, globalization, ethics, technology, and e-business. Students will develop powerful leadership skills enabling them to successfully manage complex public programs.
Degree Requirements:
Public administrators need strong leadership and organizational skills. They should have a well-rounded education, including courses such as management, finance, and grant writing. Designed to prepare graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills, and values to effectively apply various business principles and tools in an organizational setting. The program will emphasize the foundations of public administration, public policy formulation, program development, implementation and valuation, human resources and labor relations, and public finance. Students will develop powerful leadership skills enabling them to successfully manage complex public programs.
Students so trained are required to
a) have a wide range of well-grounded basic theories, expertise and skills in public administration and be well-informed of the latest developments in the academic field of international public administration;
b) have a good command of English language to be able to think, argue and speak fluently in a bilingual environment;
c) posses practical skills in information technology and the internet to serve their future work and research needs in the field of public administration.
