Faculty of Educational ScienceFaculty of Education Sciences (FES), South Chian Normal University (SCNU) serves as three centres in Guangdong province: The Centre for Educational Scientific Research, Centre for Research in Basic Education, and Centre for Teacher Education. FES now consists of five departments and six institutes: Dep of Education Science, Dep of Curriculum and Instruction, Dep of Early Childhood Education, Dep of Psychology, and Dep of Educational Psychology; Educational History Research Institute, International and Comparative Education Research Institute, Education Management Institute, Education Science Research Institute, Curriculum and Textbook Research Institute, Higher Education Research Institute, and the “Moral Education in Primary School?magazine publisher. FES now runs three magazines: “Primary school Moral Education?(authorised by Ministry of Education), “Modern Education Forum? and “Textbooks and Teaching Arts in Primary and Middle Schools? FES now holds developmental and educational psychology as national key discipline, educational foundations as provincial key discipline, two post-doctoral research centers in education science and psychology, and a center for research in psychological applications as a key research base in humanities approved by MOE. FES now offers four undergraduate programs of education science, early childhood education, psychology, and applied psychology. Masters programs cover all second-grade disciplines in education and psychology. At the doctoral level, FES now has two first-grade disciplines of education science and psychology, offering doctoral degrees in 16 second-grade disciplines. FES has established a multi-level system of high quality for fostering quality education personnel. Its graduates are much welcome in all walks of life and particularly in the education field. Currently, it has a total of 124 staff members, 99 of which are faculties, including 30 professors, 56 associate professors, and 13 lecturers. Among the faculties, 35 have obtained doctoral degrees and 32 have gained master degrees. One is targeted by the “Thousand, Hundred and Ten Project?of Guangdong Province at the national level, three at the provincial level and eighteen at the university level. Through the efforts of professors and specialists, education research of FES has been in the lead across the country. Since 2000, FES has taken 90 national and provincial research projects and has published 83 academic books and 52 textbooks. 722 academic papers was published, many of which are included in SCI, EI and ISTP. FES has won 25 provincial/ministerial research awards. Graduate Programs FES has two first-grade disciplines in education and psychology, of which 16 second-grade disciplines are authorised to grant doctoral and master degrees. Some programs are open to international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Education Science (Majored in Elementary Education) This program trains primary school subject teachers in mathematics, Chinese Language and Literature, English and other relevant comprehensive courses.
