Department of Electronics and Information EngineeringThe Department of Electronic Information Engineering (EI) was first established in 1960. Presently, it has two national disciplines and corresponding postdoctoral research centers. It is ratified to confer Doctorate and Master Degrees on six professional directions and two Bachelor's degree programs. It also sets up a post for Cheung Kong Scholar Professors. There are 147 faculty members at EI, including 27 professors, 20 of whom are doctoral advisors, and 40 associated professors, well respected in their areas including Professor Zhu Zhongliang, Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Zhong Shan and Professor Zhao Zisen, members of Chinese Academy of Engineering. Meanwhile, the department has invited many distinguished scholars as adjunct professors. Professor Zhu Guangxi is specially appointed as the member of Discipline Appraisal Team under the State Council. The department, following the opening policy as its guideline, builds united laboratories and R&D centers with many domestic and overseas industry-leading enterprises such as Motorola, Agilent, Intel, TI, Huawei, STAR, JinPeng, TCL, Changjiang Digital Telecommunication Ltd. etc. Meanwhile, it has stable cooperation with universities in countries and regions like America, Singapore, Australia, German and Hong Kong etc. With radio technology as the only specialty in the initial period, the department, after persistent development for more than 40 years, has evolved into a research base integrating manifold subjects in the field of electronic and information engineering and formed its own characteristic in research directions of Modern Communication Technology, Computer Graphics/Image Processing and Multimedia Processing, Modern Information Processing Technology and Application, Internet Technology and Engineering, Optical Communication and System, Artificial Intelligence etc. The department has been awarded more than 20 national and provincial prizes in recent years. EI department attaches great importance to cultivating creative talents and has gained distinguished achievements in the teaching reformation, covering various awards on diverse aspects. Graduate students at EI are widely welcomed in the job market. EI department aims its target in gearing education to the world, the future and the modernization.
