Graduation Ceremony 2012 for International Students Held On June 6th
On the morning of July 6, the graduation ceremony for 2012 international students of Hainan Medical University(HMU) was held at Harmony Square. Present at the ceremony were president Lu Chuanzhu and vice president Zeng Yu,Chen Yumin,Chen Zhibin,Huang Yuanhua and members of academic degrees committee of HMU. 97 international graduates from Pakistan, Jordan, India and the USA and their relatives,friends attended the ceremony. Director Zhang Chao from Hainan Provincial Education department,deputy-derctor Lu Xiaofeng from Hainan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, commissar Wu Qingtiao and deputy director Zheng Mingming from Haikou Municipal Public Security Bureau were invited to attend the ceremony. The graduation ceremony was presided over by vice president Chen Zhibin.
President Lu Chuanzhu expressed congratulations to the 2012 international Graduates and gave a keynote speech titled " better save one life than build a seven-story pagoda ".
Vice President Zeng Yu read “the commendation decision on Excellent International Graduates and Excellent International Student Leader”. Director Zhang Chao from International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Hainan Provincial Education Department expressed the warm congratulations to the graduates and respects to whose devoted great efforts in international education .
In the joyful melody, the graduates walked one by one to the rostrum where president and chairman Lu Chuanzhu tassels to the left for and shook hands with each of them after receiving the degree certificate from vice president Chen Zhibin. The ceremony concluded with making the oath led by doctor Ling Yi from affiliated hospital.
In his speech, President Lu expressed the most sincere congratulations to the graduates, who gained the degree after making great effort, as well as to their family members and friends who have cared for and supported them so much.“ You made a wise choice to study in the great China, because she has a 5000-year civilization and unique Traditional Chinese Medicine. That you chose to study in Hainan Medical University would be appreciated for ever by me. That you chose to be a doctor would be thanked by painful patients. One of the Chinese saying goes as: better save one life than build a seven-storey pagoda, which like a lighthouse has led me to work diligently as an emergency physician for more than 20 years. Today, I give this sentence to all of you who will be doctors, hoping you to bring it back to your country and around the world. Make saving person as your life-long pursuit and duty.
The third batche of international students, starting their MBBS study instructed in English covering theory classes, laboratory classes and internship,is the biggest batch degree-oriented international graduates in Hainan Medical University.Within the five and a half years, the international students studied medicine as well as paticipated various social activities. Many of them have served as volunteer in Haikou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, took part in Hainan Spring Festival Evening Party, even be outdoor host of TV station. They have deep feeling with Hainan, so that many of them wanted to continue to stay in China for post-graduate study or to get a job after graduation.
