Wenzhou Establishes Friendship City Relationship with Slagelse, DenmarkOn August 31st, the municipal government delegation led by Hu Ganggao, the deputy mayor of Wenzhou, visited Slagelse, Denmark and signed a letter of intent about establishing the Friendship City Relationship with the host city to promote the bilateral friendly exchanges to a new height. The delegation also attended the "Wenzhou-Slagelse Economic and Cultural Cooperation Forum”. Mayor of Slagelse extended to the delegation a warm welcome. He said the signing of the letter of intent laid the cornerstone of long-term cooperation in the future and would bring mutual benefits to both cities. According to him, Slagelse enjoys complete and mature infrastructure, proactive and innovative enterprises as well as Denmark's largest vocational education institution. The two cities are highly complementary with broad space for cooperation.
In his speech, Hu Ganggao expressed thanks for the invitation of the municipal government of Slagelse. He said, when it comes to “the past”, both cities are coastal cities with a long history and trading as a major industry. “At present”, the two cities dominated by private enterprises have some common industries and are seeking economic transition. He proposed, "in the future", the two cities may strengthen cooperation in trade, bilateral investment, and cultural exchanges to realize truly friendly exchanges.
During the visit, the delegation held a cordial meeting with Liu Biwei, the Chinese Ambassador to Denmark. The ambassador congratulated on the signing of the letter of intent about establishing the Friendship City Relationship between the two cities. He expected that both sides may work together to learn from each other and achieve fruitful results of cooperation to build long-term true friendly relations.
The delegation also visited Nilpeter A/S, Selandia College of Business Technology and Education, Gerley Physical Education and Sport Academy for in-depth understanding of many aspects of local trade, manufacturing, education and so on.
