Must Knows for the Arrival of Freshman in Spring Semester 2011
Welcome to Heilongjiang University! Hereby notify the related matters as follows:
Check in the reserved foreign students dormitories with passport and Admission Letter. For those students who want to live outside the campus, please take the out-living agreement issued by school and go to register in the regional Police Station within 24 hours after you arrived in China. For those students who did not register on time, responsibility shall be accounted in accordance with law by the Police Station.

Registration Process for Self-support Students
Place: Multifunctional Hall, the 2nd floor, Building 3 in Section A.
Time: February 24(Thursday) – February 25(Friday)
9:00-11:00, 13:30-16:00
Materials Requested: Pen, Passport, Admission Notice, JW202 form, 2 photos and tuition fee.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTION: Those with “X” visa need to prepare 2 more photos (a pure white background) with body examination record and chest X-ray photo.
Registration Procedure:
4.1 Recruitment Office of Foreign Students
The students who have no Admission Letter should fill in the Application Form, and then get a student number. Next, go to Foreign Students Office.
4.2 Foreign Students Office
a. The students with a student’s number should hand in Admission Notice and JW202 form, verify the Application Form then get briefing material.
b. Hand over passport, and know about the duration of stay in China of your visa. (If you hold an X visa, we need your body examination record.)
c. Get Lecture Permission
d. Get Tuition Notice
NOTICE: Lecture Permission is a proof for class. Important information is printed on your lecture permission in terms of name, student number, class and curriculum. Please well keep the card. You should take classes according to the information on the card. If there is any change on class or curriculum, please take the card to the office for remake. Your teacher may check your card at the beginning of a semester. Please carry it with you and show it to your teacher each class.
4.3 Pay the tuition at Finance Office
a．Hand in the Tuition Notice. (Chinese Currency (RMB), US Dollar, Union Pay Bank card and International credit card are all accepted).
b. Relative Payment
Registration：￥260
Guarantee Money：￥500
Tuition of General Scholar：￥6500 /semester
Tuition of Bachelor’s Degree：￥7750 /semester
Tuition of Master’s Degree：￥10500 /semester
Tuition of Doctor’s Degree：￥14000 /semester
Insurance：￥300 /semester
Notice: Foreign students study here must get insurance. Those who have got insurance abroad should demonstrate the original insurance certificate or the authorized copy, which will be kept by the school later.
Notice：Students planning to study for one semester are required to pay tuition for one semester once, and no payment by installment. For students with “X” visa, the duration of the residence permit will be determined by your payment. They are the same. For example, students with “X” visa can have residents card with the validity for half a year if they pay tuition for one semester.
Tuition is not going to be returned to dropout for personal reasons.
Special postponed cases need to submit postponement applications to Foreign Students Office. After verification and permission, students can get Lecture Permission then attend classes. The registration deadline is March 11th (Friday).The institute reserves the right to charge extra amount to 5% of total tuition for delay with no excuse.
Students who need to apply for a resident card or extend one’s visa should hand tuition invoice and necessary materials to Mr. Zhang before March 11th Friday.
5. Placement Test for Chinese Language and Literature and International Economics and Trade
Bachelor’s degree students, majoring in Chinese Language and Literature and International Economics and Trade，can transfer classes in March and September each year. Students who have passed the transfer test and matched the conditions can study from the second or third year. Extra money is charged for make up tests and credits.

6. Curriculum of General Scholar
6.1 All the general scholars should take the language test then select classes according to the test results. Please take your lecture permission card to take the paper and oral test，and select classes on February 26th Saturday.
Time of Test: 9：00 February 26th Saturday
Place：Classrooms in 3F, 4F
Class Selection Place: Room 3109
Notice: Students with zero Chinese level could have classes in Elementary Class without test. Please select courses and make sure your classroom in Room 3109 at 9:00 on February 26th. Classes will start on March 1st Tuesday in this semester. Please take your Lecture Permission Card and your teacher will check on your class attendance.
6.2 Notice of result of Chinese Language test and classroom number will be published on February 28th (Monday) on the notice board or the website: www.studyathlju.com. Please make sure your classroom number and class time with your Lecture Permission.
6.3 Purchasing textbook on 1F bookstore according to your selected course and class placement.
7、Class Transfer for General Scholar
7.1 Since March 1st (Tuesday), students begin the new semester and students need to attend classes with your Lecture Permission. Students, who need to change classes, please take your lecture card and come to the Reference Room (3217) at 8:30-11:30 on March 4 Friday. Please go to the student office to get new lecture card at 7:30 on Monday morning March 7.
Notice: Please keep your textbook clean and take your lecture card with you if you need to change books.
7.2 Classes will start on March 7 (Monday) in this semester. Please take your Lecture Permission Card，and your teacher will check on your class attendance.
Notice:
1）Selected course should not be more than 25 class hours weekly. The extra hours will be charged by the institute.
2）As for the classes which have the same courses, classes transfer will not be allowed.
3）Students who change classes or shift classes without permission of foreign student office can not get certification or transcript.
8．Freshman Education

Notice：Students must take part in the freshman education and student card will be issued after the meeting.
9．School Opening Ceremony
Time: 14:00 March 11th (Friday)
Place: Multi-function room on 2nd floor of Building No. 3 in Section A
10. On changing rooms
Students have to sign the contract with the reception desk of foreign students’ dormitory. Please apply for changing rooms within two weeks after checking in if one is not satisfied, and reserve a room at the reception desk. If there is extra room, room will be changed according to application orderly. According to the regulations, changing rooms and checking out are forbidden during each semester.
11. Living outside campus
Students are required to live on campus. Go through relevant process in Foreign Students Office if wanting to live off campus. It is illegal to live off campus without permission, and the police bureau will charge a fine. The application deadline is March 11th (Friday).
Conditions of living off campus:
1、There should be a guardian living with the student in Harbin.
2、Well mastered Chinese.
Notice: The Police Station reserves the right to withdraw the permission of living off the campus. Before you renting the apartment, please go to the foreign student’s office to apply and get the confirmation. Any economic consequences shall be responsible by student oneself.
12. Body examination
Students with “X” visa should obtain a residence permit within 30 days of entry. Prior to this, foreign students should have body examination in Heilongjiang Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau or Harbin Public Security Hospital. Students who haven’t done it or whose exams are not qualified can have the body exam alone, or participate in physical examination organized by our university.

PS: The regular class should not be affected by body exam; students should arrange their own body exam time reasonably.
