About KMUST
Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) is located in Kunming, the beautiful so called "Spring City" of China. Kunming is the capital city of the Yunnan Province in South West China that shares a border with Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar and is an area filled with beauty and mystery. KUST is the largest University in Yunnan Province and has a very good reputation which is well deserved in China as a whole. KUST is a multidisciplinary University principally interested in engineering and science but also offering courses in technology, management, economics, arts, law and education. KUST has been entrusted to recruit international scholarship students under the name of "Chinese Government Scholarship-Degree Study in Province & Autonomous Region Program".
With the current 24 faculties (schools), KUST offers 76 Bachelor programs, 127 Master programs, 41 Ph.D. programs, and 1 MBA program, as well as other programs including post-doctorial courses, preparatory courses, and continuing education for adults, vocational training and a Chinese language course for international students. All the programs are in a position to enroll international students.
KUST has a qualified and experienced academic staff team that conducts both teaching and research. The total number of staff is currently 3,292 including academic and non-academic ones, among them over 1,176 are associate professors and professors. There is one academic from the China Academy of Engineering working for KUST and 23 academics from the China Academy of Science and from the China Academy of Engineering presently working for KUST. Currently there are over 55,000 students studying at KUST, and among them there are over 4,000 graduate students.
KUST is composed of three campuses, Lianhua, Xinying and Bailong, all are in Kunming City, occupying an area of about 120 hectares in total. A new campus is under construction in Chenggong which is located on the outskirts of the city and occupies an area of about 200 hectares. The University library has about 2.28 million volumes of books. KUST has founded 15 state-level provincial engineering research centers and laboratories. KUST has established mutually beneficial relationships with more than 70 renowned Universities and Research Institutions in over 30 countries.
In KUST, the School of International Programs is in charge of the enrollment, preparatory courses, Chinese language and culture teaching to international students as well as provides all kinds of other services. The School has well qualified teaching and administration staff to provide comprehensive and effective facilities and services.
KUST provides several scholarship programs to international students. The "Confucius Institute Scholarship" under Confucius Institute Headquarters is available to all international students. The international students who come from Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) have the opportunity to apply for a Chinese Government Scholarship. The Yunnan Provincial Scholarship is also available for applicants from GMS countries at KUST. Moreover, an ASEAN Student Scholarship has been set up in KUST since 2006.
