School of Digital Media

Based on the previous Department of Animation in the School of Design and the former Department of Digital Media Technology in the School of Information Technology, the School of Digital Media was established in 2009 so as to absorb talents with high academic attainments in the field of digital media at home and abroad, promote the integration of our university’s rapid development with the local social and economic development and meet the strong demand of the increasingly rapid development of digital media industry for high-level design and technical personnel. The school consists of the Digital Arts Department, the Digital Media Technology Department and the Experiment Center. The Experiment Center includes the Digital Virtual Laboratory, the Digital Imaging Laboratory and The Digital Interactive Technology Laboratory. Now, it has two undergraduate programs, i.e. Animation (Art, the national characteristic specialty) and Digital Media Technology (Engineering). It has two master's programs in Art of Design and Computer Science and Technology.

Currently, the school has 38 full-time teachers, including 5 professors and 9 associate professors and 9 master student supervisors. 10 teachers have doctor’s degree, and more than 97% of the teachers have obtained master's degrees and above. In recent years, teachers of the school have undertaken a large number of research projects, including the State 863 Projects, the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Support Projects, and enterprise projects. The school has co-hosted the 6th and 7th China International Exposition of Industrial Design. Teachers of the school have published more than 10 academic monographs and textbooks and more than 100 papers in important publications (core journals and higher) at home and abroad.

Adhering to the training mode of "attaching importance to practice and cultivating innovative personnel", the School has established the Creative Product R & D Center, the Artall Art R & D Center, Wuxi Digital Media Engineering R & D Center and other production-learning-research fieldwork bases. It also has set up China's service outsourcing demonstration zone, i.e. Wuxi Taihu Lake Conservation Area Personnel Training Base. In terms of international educational cooperation, the "1.5 +3" teaching mode between the School and the University of Osaka of Electrical Communication in Japan has provided the students with good conditions for the cultivation of the students’ practical abilities and employment. Students graduated from the School with their distinctive characteristics, practical abilities and good innovative qualities are very popular with the employers at home and abroad. Many of them are employed by Microsoft, Crystal Stone Pictures Animation Co., Jiang Tong Animation Corporation Ltd, the Broadcasting, Film and Television Group and other famous enterprises.
