About CQUPT

Chongqing university of Posts and Telecommunications (CUPT), founded in 1950, is one of the few universities that have been blue-printed and given priority to develop by the State, and has grown into a prominent university acknowledged by its excellent in the field of information industry in and out of China.

The university covers an area of 630 acres with a building area of 600,000 square meters. There are over 20,000 students, including more than 3,000 postgraduates. It has a faculty of more than 1,600, and has about 100 well-known experts and 20 Fellows as the honorary or part-time professors from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering as well as from countries like UK, Canada, USA, Poland, India, etc.  Upon the student-centered education policy, CUPT has cultivated over 70000 talents in all fields over its 60 years, which now has renowned as the “cradle of talents in information industry”. Currently, CUPT runs 13 schools, 44 undergraduate programs, 38 postgraduate programs, and five PhD programs are under construction.

The university has been adhering to the ‘Opening up Policy’, and has built well-established cooperative relations with over 40 universities from such counties as USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Korea and so forth, which has developed in student exchange, scholar visits and joint research.  CUPT also has built partnership with some world IT leaders as HP, Cisco, Oracle, DRAM, etc., and has set up the CUPT-HP joint school of Software, international institute of semiconductor（Chongqing）, which concentrated on joint talent training and research cooperation. CUPT admits international students supported by Chinese Government Scholarship and Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship, as well as self-financed international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Now there are over 100 international students, from more than 10 countries such as Korea、Vietnam、 Mongolia、Republic of Kazakhstan、USA、France and Canada etc. CUPT has also successfully hosted many international academic conferences, and attracts overseas statesmen, business elites, eminent scholars and experts to lecture or visit.

CUPT commits itself to independent innovations and constant explorations, known as  the  birthplace of  digital communication in China. It owns a leading position in the R& D of Telecommunication network engineering and testing, next generation wideband wireless communication, computer networking and information security, intelligent information processing, industrial EPA and sensor networking, advance manufacturing, micro-electronics and specialized chip design and so on, and over 500 scientific projects in either state or provincial/ministry level have been assumed. National Technology Invention Award, National Science and Technology Progress Award, and so forth were granted to CUPT.  The university is ranked among top 100  of China in terms of science and technology, acknowledged as the national model for IT innovation and Hi-tech industrialization.

CUPT will continuously commit to its excellence in higher education, drive innovations, and deepen collaborations with partners. With the set strategies, the university will build itself into a multidisciplinary teaching and research institution that plays a significant role in the information industry.
