College of Chemistry and Chemical EngineeringSchool of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Southwest University was founded in 1994. It was developed from the Department of Chemistry established in 1952. The school currently has 110 faculty and staff, including 25 professors and 38 associate professors. Research at the school involves: light scattering analysis, luminescence and environmental analysis, bioelectrochemical analysis, molecular spectral analysis, biochemical pharmaceutical analysis, organic catalytic and organic functional materials, synthesis of chiral drugs, bioorganic pharmaceutical chemistry, computational chemistry, electrochemistry, theoretical chemistry, organometallic chemistry and inorganic synthesis. The school offers Ph.D. programs on analytical chemistry, master programs on inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, applied chemistry, environmental sciences, pharmaceutical analysis and chemical education methodology, as well as undergraduate programs on chemical education, applied chemistry and material chemistry. Now there are 280 graduates and 1500 undergraduates at the school. The School has a number of advanced instruments totally valued about RMB 32 million, including NMR spectrometer, atomic force microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform Raman spectrometer and surface plasmon resonance etc..
