About Shenyang Medical College

Shenyang Medical College is a local medical college and founded in 1949. In 2007, the college successfully passed the Teaching Work Level Evaluation of the Ministry of Education with a result of “Excellent”.  In April of 2009 the Provincial Government Committee of Academic Degrees gave approval for the college to begin to prepare to award master's degrees as requested by the college. The campus covers an area of 446,700 square meters with 205,000 square meters of floor space. The college is composed of thirteen teaching institutions such as School of Basic Medical Science, School of Public Health, School of Clinical Medicine, School of Nursing, Medical Education Research Center; etc., and has 7 affiliated hospitals, 15 teaching hospitals and 63 training bases. Currently, 4116 undergraduates are studying here. 180 international students from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Ghana, Nigeria and Norway are studying at our campus. The Department of International Exchange and Cooperation is responsible for student enrollment and daily managements.

Shenyang Medical Universtiy is a regular medical institution of higher learning. In the past 50 years, the University continuously expanded in scale, diversified in the specialties offered and improved in operation conditions. Now it has established a multi-level education system involving bachelor degree education, advanced diploma education, and adult education. Up to now, it has successively turned out more than 20,000 medical graduates and made contribution to the social and economical development as well as the development of medical and health services.

With the approval of the municipal government and through assets replacement, the university constructed new campus in 2000 and then wholly moved to the new campus in Oct. 2001. The new campus covers an area of 450,000 square meters, with a construction area of over 200,000 square meters. The University's total assets are RMB580 million, including RMB40.53 million worth of instruments and equipment for teaching and scientific research, and there are 520,000 volumes and more than 8000 kinds of Chinese and foreign language periodicals (including 1500 kinds of paper made ones) in its library.

 

The University now has about 3000 faculty members (including the faculty of its two directly affiliated hospitals), among them 962 persons are the faculty members of the university's headquarter including 626 in-service teachers, 112 are professors and 202 are associate professors; 20 persons hold doctorate and 152 persons hold Master's degree. In addition, 66 persons hold post in the associations and societies at various levels. Now the universtity has 8541 students on campus, among them 3218 students are in bachelor degree program, 2132 students are in advanced diploma program, 1764 students are in secondary medical program of affiliated medical schools and 1527 students are in adult education program. Our students come from 8 provinces and autonomous regions such as Liaoning, Shandong, Jiangshu, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, Henan, Hunan and Hubei. In 2003, the employment rate is 97.84% and 100% respectively for the graduates of bachelor degree program and the graduates of advanced vocational diploma program.
