Postgraduate Programs

Up to the year of 2006, the number of postgraduates studying in Central University of Nationalities has reached 2160. The university has been entitled to confer academic degrees in 83 specialties, including Master Degrees in 60 specialties and Doctoral Degrees in 23 specialties. Our university has set up one program to confer professional degree (MPA) and 2 post-doctoral research centers. There are 2 state-level key disciplines, 9 key disciplines at and above the provincial or ministerial levels, 2 state-level key Arts Bases and 1 key national research base of humanities and social science.

An Introduction to the postgraduate programs:

1、Be entitled to confer doctoral degrees

Now the university has programs which are entitled to confer doctoral degrees on 2 first level disciplines as ethnology and Chinese Language & Literature; The University has 23 programs of second level disciplines which are entitled to confer doctoral degree. The disciplines are as follows: Science of Religion, Anthropology, Folklore, Ethnology, Marxism Ethnic Theories and Policies, Economics of Chinese Ethnic Minority Groups, The History of Chinese Ethnic Minority Groups, Arts of Chinese Ethnic Minority Groups, Ethnic Sociology, Public Administration of Ethnic Groups Regions, Tibetology, The Education of Chinese Ethnic Minority Groups，Ethnic Politics， Ethnic Jurisprudence，Linguistics and Applied Linguistics，Language and Literature of Chinese Ethnic Minority Groups ，History of a Particular Subject, The Study of Art and Literature，Science of Chinese Character，Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, Comparative Literature and World Literature, Chinese Classical Documentics, Ancient Chinese Literature. All of these cover four discipline categories: the law, philosophy, literature and history.

2、Be entitled to confer Master degrees

Now the university has the programs which are entitled to confer master degrees on four first-level disciplines as Ethnology、Sociology、History and Chinese Language & Literature. The disciplines mentioned above have covered 10 discipline categories as philosophy, economics, law, pedagogy, literature, history, science, management, engineering and medicine, which have formed an integrated system.

3、Be entitled to confer one Professional Degree

One professional Master degree: MPA (Master of Public Administration)

In 2005, our university began recruiting students of part-time study on MPA .

4、On-job postgraduates programs for university teachers

Since 2003, the university has begun to recruit on-job university teachers applying for Master Degree.
