The College of Computer Science

The College of Computer Science, Beijing University of Technology is one of the largest training bases for the senior computer elites in China. In 2005, China's leading information security experts, the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Shen Chang-xiang was appointed as the Dean of the College. 113 full-time teachers comprise a good faculty of the College of Computer Science, 20 of which are doctoral tutors, 34 are professors, and 54 are associated professors and senior engineers. There are one National Expert with Outstanding Contributions, one expert supported by National Outstanding Young Science Foundation, one Specially Appointed Professor of Beijing, five visiting professors and four experts enjoying the government special allowance.

The College of Computer Science is comprised of four departments. They are the Department of Computer Application, the Department of Computer Architecture, the Department of Software, as well as the Department of Information Security. There are one postdoctoral mobile station, a doctoral, three master degree programs, two engineering master degree programs, two undergraduate programs, which formed the entire expert training system from bachelors to masters and doctors. Currently, 1160 full time undergraduate students, 429 graduate students, 108 doctoral students, 260 engineering masters, more than 300 adult education students and 480 cooperative education students are studying in the College of Computer Science.

Since its foundation, the College of Computer Science has already cultivated and sent thousands of professional computer students to high-tech enterprises, government agencies at all levels, Chinese Academy of Sciences, universities, foreign and state-owned enterprises and other units. Many graduates have become the backbone of computer-related fields of technology and senior management.

In recent years, the College of Computer Science has completed dozens of 973, 863 and the National Natural Science Foundation research projects, and also taken a number of large computer projects. It has made important contributions to the development of the Capital. The College also gained many national and ministry awards, published more than 1000 academic papers, 300 of which are indexed by SCI and EI. The College still has many other honors. It has the National Teaching team, the National and Intel, Microsoft elaborate courses, a number of national level quality teaching materials, etc.
