College of Life Science and Bioengineering

College of Life Science and Bioengineering offers 3 undergraduate majors(biomedical engineering, biotechnology and food quality and safety), 2 master’s degree programs(biomedical engineering and biology, 1 first-level discipline doctoral program and 1 post-doctoral program station(Biomedical Engineering). The college also possesses the Beijing Key Discipline of Biomedical Engineering, Beijing Environmental and Virus Cancer Key Laboratory and Beijing Quality Supervision and Inspection Station of Beverages and Food Additives. As a key constructed discipline of “211 project”, we established the Laboratory of Virus and Pharmacology, the Laboratory of Drug Synthesis and Natural Products, the Biochemical analysis Center, the Laboratory of Protein Structure and Function, the Laboratory of Biological Electronics and Medical Equipment, the Laboratory of Biomechanics and Simulation Engineering and Basic Medical Laboratory, equipped with international advanced instruments and equipment, which are active in frontier fields of biomedical engineering.

The college has 70 teaching staff, including 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, 13 professors, 26 associate professors. The academic team is formed by famous scholars with rigorous scholarship, master in expertise, outstanding achievements in scientific research and leaders of young scholars on advanced technology.

The college is undertaking major projects, such as science and technology ministry “973” and “863” project, State Major Science and Technology Special projects, National Natural Science Fund projects, Beijing Natural Science Foundation projects and Beijing Municipal Education Committee Funds. Great contributions have been made in the fields of anti-virus medicine, anti-HIV and anti-cancer vaccine, development of medical treatment equipment, construction of community medical service and detection techniques of sports medicine and cardiovascular function.
