The institute deals with mainly the study of, firstly micro-structure of solid materials which sets its goal in discovering relations between micro-structure and performance,and researches into Atomic Arrangement, default structure, character of microarea composition of varieties of developed materials including nano material, semiconductor material, quasi-crystal material, superconductive material by adopting methods of electronic micro-analysis; and secondly properties of matter and application of new materials that researches mainly into the electron microscope structure and properties of matter of new materials, focusing on the structure, properties of matter and application of electro-ceramic material, electronic thin film and oxid , ferroelectricity ceramics, dielectric ceramics, piezoelectric ceramics, wide bandgap semiconductors thin film, Fullerene thin film, artificial crystal material, nano rare-earth transition composite materials.
