Institute of Recycling EconomyThe Institute of Recycling Economy, established in April 2005, is an inter-disciplinary research organization dedicated to research on resources, environment and recycling economy. The current dean of the institute is Academician Zuo Tieyong, who is the Vice-Chairman of Chinese Association of Science and Technology, and former president of Beijing University of Technology. Academician Li Jingwen, Acdemy of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Dean of College of Economics and Management, BJUT, is invited as the Chairman of Academic Committee of the institute. A number of renowned scholars are invited as members of the Academic Committee as well. The strategic goal of the institute is to build itself as a first-class research institute which is influential both at home and abroad, to promote intersection of different disciplines of Beijing University of Technology, and to become a highlight among the recently established disciplines. The institute also aims to educate high-level graduates with strategic visions and research abilities in the interdisciplinary fields. Relying on the advantages of a multi-disciplinary university, the institute has formed a competitive research team including more than 50 full-time or part-time researchers directly involved in the study of recycling economy with various academic backgrounds. The institute was honored as the Innovative Team of Recycling Economic Theory & Technology with Chinese characteristics in 2006. The first Master’s program of Recycling Economics under the discipline of Population, Resource & Environment Economics was established in 2007. The inter-discipline of Resource & Environment and Recycling Economy was honored as the key discipline in Beijing Municipality in 2008. The study on education of innovative talents in the inter-discipline of Resource & Environment and Recycling Economy was honored as key education research of Beijing University of Technology in 2009. Together with the college of Materials Science and Engineering, the institute applied an undergraduate program called “Environmental Material and Eco-Engineering” in 2010. The researchers have actively led or participated in dozens of important projects from State-level or municipal-level departments such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Beijing Natural Science Foundation, Chinese Academy of Engineering, the State Committee of Development and Reform, and Ministry of Education. The major research fields include Recycling Economic Theory and Practice, Eco-Industrial Research and Evaluation, Resources Engineering and Economics, Environmental Economics, Environmental Management, and Resource conservation and recycling, etc. |
