The 2011Elite Forum across the Taiwan Strait was Held in USTB

On July 8th, the 2011 “creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship” Elite Forum across the Taiwan Strait was held in USTB. Representatives from the Exchange Bureau of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council PRC, Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Founder Group attended the forum. Prof. Luo Weidong, Zhang Xinxin and Sun Dongbai, chairmen of USTB Board, more than 400 USTB faculties and students and presidents and faculties of 16 Taiwan universities also attended the forum.
      
Chaired by Prof. Sun Dongbai, the forum began with an opening speech given by Prof. Luo Weidong, delivering the most welcoming message to all attendees. And representatives from those government agencies and Taiwan universities also delivered speeches on the opening ceremony. They hoped that through this forum, universities across the strait will enhance their recognitions towards the innovation education and students across the strait will deepen mutual understanding by sharing with each other experiences of starting up their own business. In their speeches, they also highlighted students’ courage to innovate and noted that it was good for university students to put their creative thinking into practice and then to expect fruitful achievements.
      
This forum received enthusiastic responses from Taiwan and mainland students through collecting 40 pieces of works on creativity and innovation. These works ranged over many fields including mechanical equipment, wireless telecommunications, digital entertainment, art products, and consumer finance and so on. These works will rival for prizes through competitive activities. After the forum competition, students and teachers across the straits will go on with cultural visits.
