Teaching Objectives

Students are expected to systematically study the basic theoretical knowledge of traditional Chinese pharmacology, acquire modern experimental techniques, Chinese pharmaceutical manufacturing technology, new Chinese medicine research technology, and gain independent research and innovation capabilities in identification of variety and quality of Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine preparation and processing, detection, extraction, and separation of active Chinese medicine ingredients, Chinese medicine preparations and new Chinese medicine development.

Main courses
inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, traditional Chinese pharmacology, Chinese formulae, medicinal botany, Chinese medicine chemistry, Chinese medicine processing,Chinese medicine pharmacology, product development fundamentals, computer applications, and pharmaceutical marketing. Emphasis will be placed on both theoretical teaching and experimental teaching, and hands-on instructions including medicinal botany field practice, hospital internship, and graduation internship will be provided.

Future Career
Graduates can work in the production of traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine product development, pharmaceutical marketing, quality control of traditional Chinese medicine, and hospital pharmacy dispensary in traditional Chinese pharmaceutical companies, pharmacy departments, traditional Chinese medicine research institutes, drug testing and regulatory agencies in the field of traditional Chinese medicine.

1) Non-Chinese citizens with a valid foreign passport and in good health;


2) Senior high school graduates or with educational background at above level, or equivalent to that of a Chinese senior high school graduate or above, with results of B or above (more than 70 for a hundred-mark system);


3) Applicants must possess with a relatively higher level of proficiency in English. Certificates for English learning throughout the primary and high schools or certificate for English proficiency test shall be produced for non-English native speakers.
