Theoretical Physics

Modern science and technology are closely related to modern physics. In the 20th century, technology has benefited from the developments of field theory, quantum theory and relativity theory in physics ; With an increase in the index of chip integration and miniaturization of the devices, fore-runners in theoretical physics and computer information science realized the importance of quantum theory in computer and information theory 20 years ago and put forward the concept and model of quantum information and computation. In the 21st century, quantum computers will be able to deal with the problem the current computer can not handle effectively. It can be said that the modern information and computer science is inextricably linked with it so much so that physics theorists have taken much of the work. At the same time, the development of theoretical physics involves a lot of observations from the experiments based on sophisticated science technology and equipment, and from computer simulation and analysis.
The discipline is both one of the "11th Five-Year Plan" key disciplines in Chongqing and one of the focuses of developing programs of CQUPT. It has a group of young scholars returning from overseas study and a faculty of 15 professors and associate professors, 2 of whom are tutors of Ph. D.. The discipline has its own characteristics and advantages in researches in the quantum many-body and symmetry theory, particle physics and cosmology, the classics and nonlinear physics, quantum computers and quantum information theory, and has exerted great influence both at home and abroad. In recent years teachers in it have carried a number of national social science fund projects and provincial & ministerial research projects, won many provincial and ministerial Natural Science Awards, published more than 200 academic papers both in domestic and international academic journals or on international conferences, more than 100 of which are selected by SCI, EI, and other well-known international retrieval systems, including "Classical and Quantum Gravity", "Physics Review B / D", "Physics Letter", "physics journal ", and other domestic and international core journals.
