Introduction
Department of social work of Zhejiang Normal University was allowed to operate in 2001.The department was named as province-level key construction profession in 2009 and was criticized as province-level emerging specialty in 2014, and became the first batch of Master of Social Work (MSW)degree site in 2009.The social work profession has been developed into a certain influence profession in domestic and had comprehensive strength in province.
The international MSW program will exploit resources of our social work profession and meet international needs. It is hoped to train applied high-level professional students who hold value of “people oriented, help people to help themselves, social justice”, master social work theories and methods, be capable of planning, executing, supervising, evaluating and researching of social service, have competence to manage social services among different groups of people and fields.
Multiple teaching methods such as lecture, case study and field placement would be applied in this program. It also emphasize on practice teaching and training of occupation ability through scientific and reasonable modularity, systematic and orderly training model. To strengthen social work skill training and balance research ability, the practice courses will utilize combined teaching approaches of “classroom teaching + experimental simulation + practice operation”.
Program Mode
1. Curriculum: It’s mainly about lectures or presentations, with a mix of seminars, group discussions, tutorials, case studies and so on.
2. Professional Practice: Students will start a three month practicum in the 3rd semester.
3. Graduation Thesis: Students are required to finish a graduation thesis in English up to the master standard. Graduation thesis should be submitted and defended in the middle of the 4th semester.
Duration: 2 years
Tuition Fee: 24000 RMB/year
1. Foreign nationals, over 18 years old. 2. In good health condition, in accordance with the Health Standard for International Students stipulated by the Ministry of Education, China. 3. Good moral character and discipline towards the laws and regulations of the Chinese government. 4. Good English or Chinese language proficiency. 5. Holding Bachelor degree certificate for Master programs.
