Course Introduction

The history of international students' Chinese language education is from the 1980's at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. Today, the Chinese language center offers non-native speakers of Chinese a unique program in which they can learn not only the Chinese language, but also Chinese unique customs and culture. The program offers a wide range of courses levels and subjects, so it is easy for students to find a program fits their needs. It is important for students to attain the high level of Chinese proficiency required for research and academic activities in the future.
 
 Course Duration
 

 

The Chinese Language Program is the best way to understand China and Chinese culture. The long-term Chinese language training programs are taught by instructors from the University of Science and Technology Beijing Chinese Language Centre (CLC) and last from 1 semester to 3 years.

The academic year for this course is divided into two semesters:

(1) Feb - Jun for spring semester:;
(2) Sep - Jan for autumn semester:.

Each semester consists of 18 weeks (20 class hours per week, holidays excluded).

 Entry Exam

 

In order to accurately assess the Chinese proficiency of new students, CLC arranges an exam at the beginning of each term. According to the results, students will be assigned to appropriate class levels.

Curriculum

The curriculum of the program includes the following courses: Speaking, Listening Skills, Comprehensive Chinese, Chinese Culture Extensive Reading, Intensive Reading, Grammar, Newspaper Reading, and Writing etc.
CLC also offers elective courses, including Chinese history, Business Chinese, Mandarin Pronunciation, Chinese Film, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Fashion Terms, Chinese Songs, Chinese Painting, Taiji, etc.

Regulation

CLC has explicit regulations on student attendance and exams. Only those attending classes regularly and passing exams can obtain their final grades and program certificate from the university.
