1. Objective of the Program
1. Candidates are required to love Motherland, abide by law and disciplines, have sound moral integrity, be religious in scientific attitude towards academic work, have strong enterprise and sense of solidarity and collaboration. They should endeavor to contribute to science and the socialist modernization drive.
2. Candidates are also required to lay a solid foundation in basic theoretic and systematically special knowledge in their own fields; to be proficient in using a foreign language. They should be capable of being engaged in research and development in materials science and engineering, and capable of being put in independent charge of a special technological task.
3. Candidates should take an active part in physical exercises and have a good physique.
2. Duration of the Program
The program lasts two and a half years. The period of study for the in-service candidates can be extended to three years or three and a half years.

5. Research and Dissertations
1. After acquiring required credits, the candidates are eligible for undertaking research on thesis or together with the courses study according to the arrangement of their supervisor.
2. Opening report should be performed in the 1st semester of the 2nd year. Selecting subject should combine with the foundation of this major and the important technique problem of the national economy. Opening report should be more than 5000 words, including the status quo of the development, the significance of the selecting subject, the research content, the schedule of the thesis work and the prospective result. Opening report should arrange more than 3 high-grade post teachers to judge, it is an opening report.
3. The medium-term examination should be performed in the middle of the period of the thesis. The students should present a written report for checking the progress of the thesis study. If there is a biggish departure of the thesis work, a yellow warning will be present.
4. The thesis should focus on the creativity, correctivity, and academic and appliable point. Every student should at least publish one paper in domestic core journals relevant to the research project and should be the first author in the publication or a applying patent(second applier) for apply the dissertation of the thesis.
5. After the thesis finished and recognize by 3 high-grade post teachers including the advisor, it is allowed to perform the pre-answer and the judge with the expert of the same major.

A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant.
3. Bachelor's degree diploma
Graduation certificate should be in Chinese or English.If not, it should be translated into Chinese or English and be notarized.

5. Two recommendation letters
From professor,associate professor or equivalents.
6. Certificate of English proficiency test
IELTS or TOEFl will only be required if the applicant is not a native English speaker.
7. Certificate of Chinese language education For applying Chinese-medium programs.
8. Study plan Including study purpose, research interest and research plan in brief. (at least 1 A4 page)
