Hydraulic and Hydra-electric Engineering

College of Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Engineering is sourced from Department of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering of College of Science and Technology established by Sichuan University in 1944. It consists of the State Key Laboratory of Hydraulic and River Mountain Engineering, Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Scientific Research Institute, Engineering Science and Disastrous Mechanics Research Institute, Department of Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Engineering, Department of Hydrology and Water Resources, Department of Agricultural Hydraulic Engineering, Department of Thermal Energy and Power Engineering, Provincial Key Laboratory of Geotechnical Engineering, Provincial Key Laboratory of Hydrology and Water Resources, Engineering Structure Research Institule, Hydroelectric Sub-institute of Project Design Institute. The college has 3"523"project laboratories（Teaching Laboratory of Hydraulic and Civil Engineering, Teaching Laboratory of Hydrodynamic, Teaching Laboratory of Soil and Water Resources）, 7 research institutes, 2 college libraries.

It has established a multi-discipline and multi-level system of teaching and research. There are 2 post-Doctor stations of hydroelectric engineering and civil engineering, 8 Doctor programs, 10 Master programs（including Engineering Master of hydraulic engineering）and the first-class discipline of hydraulic engineering with grant authority of Doctor's degree. Besides, it has state key discipline of hydraulics and river dynamics（special disciplines with Cheung Kong Scholar）, provincial key disciplines of Geotechnical Engineering and Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering, national"211"project key construction discipline of Modern Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Science and Engineering, Scientific Innovation Platform of Southwest Resource Environment and Disaster Control of"985"project, Safety of Significant Project and Disaster Mechanics Research Center and New Born Cross Disciplines Rresearch Center of Sichuan University, etc.

The college has 4 bachelor programs cover the Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Engineering, Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering, Thermal Energy and Power Engineering , and Agricultural Hydraulic Engineering. There are 2000 total students and about 400 of them are Masters and Doctors. The college has a competent teaching force. It has more than 170 staff and 70 percent of them are Masters and Doctors. There are 33 professors, 41 associate professors and 23 supervisors for Doctors. There are 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 specially engaged academician, 1 specially engaged Cheung Kong Scholar, 3 winners of State Outstanding Science Foundation, 2 members of the Discipline Appraisal Group of the State Department, 2 members of the Discipline Appraisal Group of the National Natural Science Foundation Committee, 3 century talents, 13 academic and technical pioneers of Sichuan Province, 7 preparative candidates, 4 senior teachers of advanced school of Ministry of Education in our college. 2 professors awarded prominent contributor to Sichuan Province. 1 professor awarded prominent contributor to Chengdu City. In the recent 5 years, we have won 3 items of provincial teaching result prizes and 3 classic lessons of national level and provincial level. The college covers an area about 40000 m2 for teaching and research experiment. There are many sets of large scale delicate research instruments and experiment equipment for undergraduate teaching. The total value of whole equipment is over 30 million Yuan. The college library has a collection of 14400 books, 10000 journals in Chinese and foreign languages.
