Introduction to HUC

Hunan University of commerce(HUC) is a government-sponsored full-time college,and one of the universities and colleges specially supported by the overall economic and social development program of Hunan province. Located in the Lushan University Park of Changsha, HUC enjoys convenient communication and beautiful environment. Honorable awards of "Provincial Civilization College" and "Provincial Unit of Gardening" add to the charm of the college.

With rich schooling experience accumulated over the years, HUC has by now been developed into a multi-disciplinary and multi-level college,including four-year education,three-year education and adults education. Taking Management and Economics as its main focus, the college also lays emphasis on the coordinated development in such disciplines as Law, Technology, Literature, and Applied Science. It consists of 16 teaching units in the forms of schools or departments and 18 research institutes. Currently 26 bachelor's degrees programs are offered and over 11,000 full-time and part-time students are enrolled in campus. Beijin School of HUC, one of the earliest independent colleges approved by Ministry of Education in Hunan, enrolls over 4,000 students.

HUC covers an area of over 1,000 mu or over 400,000 square meters. The college is adequately equipped with teaching facilities including teaching instruments in total 46,760,000 yuan and a library housing a collection of 850,000 volumes. In addition, the college has established more than 30 laboratories and a number of internship bases outside the campus. HUC boasts a capable and qualified faculty in total over 1,000,over 240 are full and associate professors. Moreover, more than 60 distinguished experts and renowned scholars, both at home and abroad, are invited as guest professors on a part-time basis. Now, the college enjoys a sound teaching structure consisting of national excellent teachers, provincial 121-project talents and teaching stars.

Since its foundation, HUC has fostered more than 40,000 specialized talents. Due to the market-oriented philosophy, on-campus students' integrative quality and capacity are coordinately developed, and their individuality is fostered with equal attention. Thus the graduates win high regards from the work unit and are taken in all walks of life. In recent years, the employment rate of the graduates has been amounting to 95%.

HUC has successively established broad academic exchange and collaboration ties with overseas universities and colleges. From the year of 2004, the college began to implement the joint education programs of Marketing with Saxion University in Holland, and of Accounting with Griffith College Dubin in Ireland. And the college also reached an agreement on joint program with Hertfordshire University.

Holding the banner of teaching reform, HUC will continue to adhere to making it a university of characteristics, and foster more applied and advanced talents to adapt to the development of economy and society.
