About YNUYunnan University, founded in 1923, is one of the oldest universities in China and was put into the world-known Concise Encyclopedia Britannia as one of the fifteen internationally prestigious universities in China. Yunnan University has been developing rapidly by availing itself of “Project 211” (100 institutions of higher education and key disciplinary areas strengthened as a national priority for the 21st century) membership status. Yunnan University receives intensive support from the national government in teaching Chinese as a foreign language and was conferred as one of the ten key institutions that facilitate Chinese teaching in neighboring countries under the guidance of the Office of Chinese Language Council International. The university is one of the few HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) centers for all levels. The university attaches importance to enhancing the mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and other peoples of the neighboring countries, and promoting economic and trade cooperation as well as scientific, technological and cultural exchanges between them. College of International Students of Yunnan University has hosted more than 15,000 students and overseas Chinese teachers from some 30 countries. Currently, there are more than 30 full-time teachers in the college, among whom there are 4 senior professors, 6 associate professors. 4 of the staff hold doctorate degrees, while 10 hold master’s degrees. Most of the teachers have taught or studied in Spain, the United States of America, Australia, Italy, Japan and Thailand. The teachers are experienced in teaching Chinese as a foreign language and have saturated in diversified cultural contexts.
