International VIPs of Int’l Conference on Language Visited Soochow

The International Conference on Language was jointly hosted by Chinese government and UNESCO on June 5th in Suzhou. On the afternoon of June 6th, some VIPs of the conference came to visit Soochow University. The visitors included Irina Bokova, director-general of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural organization (UNESCO), international ambassadors at UNESCO, foreign consuls in China, and educational ministers and vice-ministers from 17 nations and regions. Wang Zhuojun, Sectary of CPC Committee of Soochow University, Zhu Xiulin, President of Soochow, and Vice-President Tian Xiaoming, Jiang Xinhong, together with some faculty leaders, extended a warm welcome to the visitors.

President Zhu made a brief introduction of Soochow and its internationalization to the visitors. He stated that university should play an important role in bridging the gap between different nations and regions and enhancing cultural interactions. He invited the VIPs to visit Soochow again and expressed his wish of cooperating with the international education sectors.

Afterwards, the visitors enjoyed the Chinese musical instrument ensemble and Pipa Singing performed by the students from the School of Music, visited the Experimental Teaching Center in the School of Art, observed the students’ learning process, and talked to some students
