XI’AN JIAOTONG-LIVERPOOL UNIVERSITY
Founded in 2006, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University a pioneering, international joint venture university located in the city of Suzhou on China's east coast. XJTLU is proud of its focus on research-led learning inherited from our parent institutions, the University of Liverpool and Xi'an Jiaotong University. XJTLU draws faculty from above 60+ and students from 80+ countries bringing together diverse perspectives from East and West. Our vibrant campus is located in the leafy World Heritage city of Suzhou. It is only 25 minutes by bullet train from Shanghai allowing you to experience the best of the China’s history and hypermodernity in its richest region – Yangtze River Delta.
DEGREE PROGRAMMES
All degree programmes are taught 100% in English, with a focus on critical thinking and independent learning – key skills needed in the workplace. At XJTLU students are taught how to acquire and create new knowledge and apply it to real-world scenarios. XJTLU has over 70 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, more than 15 PhD programmes. Subject areas include sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, architecture and urban planning, design, language and culture, media and communications, and business and finance, etc. Undergraduate students earn double degree: an XJTLU degree from the Chinese Ministry of Education and a globally recognised degree from the University of Liverpool, a member of the Russell Group of leading UK universities. Bachelor’s degree at XJTLU is typically 4 years. However, international students have the possibility to skip Year 1 and start directly from Year 2 if they meet certain entry requirements (see below ENTRY REQUIREMENT section).
Postgraduate students receive a University of Liverpool degree that is recognised by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Full-time Master’s programmes are typically 18 months at XJTLU, but we also offer part-time Master’s programmes normally taking 3 years.
