Schoo Of Civil Engineering And Architecture

School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, which is started for the construction of civil engineering department in May 1931, is importantly developed by Henan University. After national department adjustment, it was merged into other college. In 1988, according to the need of national economic construction, Arts and Crafts and Civil Engineering department were established. In January 1994, Civil Engineering department was established. School of civil engineering and Architecture was founded in April 2002 and consisted of civil engineering d department, architecture department, material and structure institute, craft architectural design institute and other teaching and scientific research institutions. Now, 12 teaching and training bases in inside and outside school are founded.
 
The school has Architecture and Civil engineering undergraduate specialties, andthree master’s programs, i.e. Structural engineering specialty, Material science specialty (building material direction) and Design Arts specialty (ancient garden design theory direction, architecture and urban design art direction).The Structural engineering specialty is a provincial key discipline. It has two academic groups, i.e.” structural engineering" and "Architectural History and Theory". Using advantage of engineering faculty, the school strives to extensive academic exchanges and community service. To improve school quality and academic level, academician Chen Zhaoyuan, academician Sun Jun, Luo Zhengwen researchers and other experts are invited to give lectures. Academician Sun Jun is invited as Chair Professor.

Through years of endeavor and development as the results of all previous leader and teacher work, the Department has established its reputation within the academic circle. The school currently enrolls over 1000 students and more than 600 adult education students. The school has 66 staffs, 53 full-time teachers, 23 senior title teachers. 95% of the full-time teachers has doctoral or master's degrees.  More than 2,000 professional students have graduated from the school .Our students are very active in all kinds of university activities and organizations. They have won many prizes in the national architectural design competition, model making competition , civil engineering structures Design Competition of six provinces in central southern, which has set the record of Henan Province's University prize history. The employment rate of graduates has been more than 95% and postgraduate study rate of 30% in recent years .Students work in large design and construction units inside and outside of the province, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang Province.

School attaches great importance to teaching and research work, so the scientific research work has made great progress . Teachers from the department constantly publish articles in leading architectural magazines. To date, over 10 books have been published. More than 200 articles have published and 40 papers were indexed in SCI, EI ,SIP. Design works of associate professor Lily in the twentieth of "international architectural association professional students gain design competition" won honorable mention. Associate Professor Zhang Yizhong won the first prize in the Henan Province new countryside architectural design competition. In addition to numerous research projects at provincial and municipal levels, the department has undertaken two projects ,Gong Yi, Kang bai-wan's mansions,Kaifeng, Century City and other large macro planning project design and construction.
