Long History and High Reputation
Shijiazhuang Tiedao University (STDU) is a prestigious university of applied engineering. It excels in the fields of humanities, sciences, economics and management. STDU is under the supervision of central and local governments, mainly of Hebei Province. STDU was founded in 1950, originally named Shijiazhuang Railway Institute. It is one of the key railway engineering universities in Hebei Province as well as in the whole nation. In 2010, the university renamed as Shijiazhuang Tiedao University.

STDU consists of 46 undergraduate majors, 10 master degree disciplines, 44 postgraduate majors, 5 provincial key disciplines, 4 provincial or ministerial key engineering laboratory centers. Our University has 15 institutional departments, such as the Schools of Civil Engineering, School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Economics, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Computer Technology, School of Electronics and Information, School of Mechanics, Department of Mathematics & Physics and etc. It also possesses 25 research centers, such as Research Centers of Transportation, of Health Monitoring and Control of Building Structural and of Traffic Safety Engineering and others

The university possesses 1442 faculty members: 160 professors, 376 associate professors, 276 postgraduate academic advisors. STDU is equipped with 39 Experimental Laboratories Centers, which contain a large number of advanced equipment, both manufactured in the country and abroad which are worth RMB 155 million Yuan in total. The advanced library contains more than 1.3 million paper books, in addition to those there are 885 thousand well accessible electronic books. Moreover, the campus is fully covered with high-speed Internet service. Students are thus well connected to the world via the Internet.

Many Scholarships Available
International students who get admission in STDU will get a 50% tuition fee waiver for the first year, and in the following school years, each student who passed the exams all have chances to be awarded a scholarship amounted 2000 to 6000 RMB.
