Students servicesArts societiesMy ChannelMy Channel is a TV-focused organisation. Visual programmes are produced in co-operation with other societies, or, independently. Here you can achieve your goal of developing your media skills. At the same time, you will be able to produce video material that preserves your memories of your time at the University. DV ManiaDedicated to the art of creating original movies, the society has shot seven films, including: “Every love has a secret”;,“Exchange” and “Perfect crime”. Films were shown at the Art festival and have proved popular among students and staff. The society has held a short film competition, with winning works being shown to a wide audience of students. Calligraphy and Chinese PaintingThe Society of Calligraphy and Chinese Painting is not only a society where students can learn and share calligraphy and painting skills, but also a bridge between Chinese students and international friends. Regular activity is held once every week or two. and professional calligraphy and painting experts are often invited. Comic societyThe Comic Society is a group bringing all UNNC’s animation fans together to discuss and share their experiences of watching cartoons and reading comics. The club offers members space to show off their talents and encourages original creations. Photography AssociationPhotography Association was established in 2004. The association is a part of Ningbo Colleges Photography Union. There are currently about 120 members, including many international students who are keen to take photos using digital single lens reflex cameras. Highlights include a photography competition and photographic exhibition. Fashion ClubFashion Club is a student society for those who like creativity. Activities include make-up artistry, clothing design and modelling. Modern Visual Culture SocietyModern Visual Culture Society aims to popularise the ACG culture (ACG: Animation, Comic and Game) on campus, through studying and appreciating visual culture. Activities include editing videos, making paper movies, producing a magazine and creating modern visual works. Dance ClubDance Club members can learn a number of techniques whether it be Waltz, Rumba, Jazz or Hip-Hop. Members will have plenty of opportunities to show their talent. Last April, Dance Club won the Sherwood Cup which is the highest award for art societies and activities at UNNC. Drama ClubDrama Club caters for all cultures and aims to showcase dramatic talent. The Drama Club also organises activities in the community. Magic SocietyMagic Society gives amateur magicians the opportunity to learn, perform and exchange ideas. Weekly teaching sessions, socials and performances are arranged. Video tutorials are available to all members. Academic and career based societiesAIESECAIESEC has 60 years of experience in developing high-potential youth into globally minded responsible leaders. Present in over 107 countries and territories, 1,700 top universities and with over 45,000 members, AIESEC is the world's largest youth-run organisation. Focused on providing an international platform for youth leadership development, AIESEC offers young people the opportunity to participate in international internships, experience leadership and participate in a global learning environment. AIESEC is run by young people for young people. The Financial Planning Association (FPA)founded in 2007, this associations emphasises the academic and personal development of its members. FPA demystifies financial concepts and helps students improve their financial acumen whilst tracking international financial developments. The organisation holds competitions, seminars and invites top lecturers to speak about finance, accounting and other financial topics. HiAll ClubHiAll Club is also known as “UNNC HiAll Career Development Club” (HC). HC aims to help students with their future career plans through skills development and various work-related projects.The club also helps to organise a number of annual competitions. IT ClubThe IT Club repairs computers for students. In addition to this they run an E-Sports Competition and seek to provide technical training to students who are interested in improving their computer skills. In 2011, about 100 students joined IT Club. SIFE
Student Career Development AssociationThe Student Career Development Association is a dynamic and professional society dedicated to finding ways to help UNNC students gain a better understanding of the types of careers they wish to pursue. The association also provides guidance on how to land a dream job and focuses on finding internship opportunities. WEAVER OrganisationThe WEAVER Organisation is one of the oldest and largest practical societies at UNNC. WEAVER members play an important role in student competitions and projects. For example, the organisation has hosted the national social entrepreneurship competition. Sports societiesBadminton ClubBadminton is one of the most popular sporting activities because it combines entertainment with competition. We plan even more competitions for the year ahead. We firmly believe that you, the freshmen, will make our club more exciting. Grab your badminton racquet and come join us now. Basketball ClubOver the past few years, the Basketball Club has successfully hosted mens' and womens' five and three a-side games. There are often tournaments and competitions for students to participate in. Billiards SocietyBilliards Society is a popular club among students. The society runs a variety of activities, including a teaching program, UNNC Billiards Championship Competition, Ningbo University Billiards Invited Competition, and an annual Sports Festival. Chess ClubThe Chess Club provides opportunities for enthusiasts to pit their wits against one another and advance their skills. The aims of Chess Club are: to promote chess activity, develop chess skills and facilitate friendships among chess lovers. Football ClubUNNC has a thriving football community. The University team often plays universities across the city whilst a number of training sessions and matches are organised throughout the year for all students. In 2012 a cross campus eight a-side tournament took place. Gymnastics ClubThe Gymnastics Club encourages a healthy lifestyle. Students can also take part in Yoga or belly dancing classes, taught by a professional coach. Kendo ClubKendo is a martial art and so the society comes together to focus on participation and physical training. It offers a great opportunity to learn a new sport. Skateboard ClubSkateboard Club regularly hold sessions to practice and socialise, whilst members are also able to take part in competitions. Table Tennis ClubThe Table Tennis Club is one of the most active on campus. Members of the society are able to take part in a number of classes and competitions both University and city wide. World and language societiesCulture and Communication SocietyThe Culture and Communication Society is open to anyone interested in experiencing and learning about other cultures. Chinese Cultural SocietyChinese Cultural Society allows students to take part in cultural and language exchange, offering a chance to develop their knowledge of Chinese culture. French SocietyFrench society provides platforms for cultural and language exchange. Both academic classes and competitive events are held throughout the year. Japanese Communication ClubA society for students who are interested in Japanese and Japanese culture, the club regularly organises activities which include Japanese Speaking Activity and Japanese Film Night. There are sessions available for beginners and those who want to develop their fluency in Japanese. Korean SocietyKorean Society holds activities aimed at spreading the knowledge and love of Korean culture. Entertainment includes watching Korean movies and dramas; Korean pop music appreciation and culture sharing. International Student SocietyStudents from UNNC's global community are welcomed by the International Student Society. The society organise a number of large events across the year such as formal dinners and balls, alongside regular social activities. Model United Nations AssociationAbout 60 years ago, the first Model United Nations Association was organised at Harvard University. Its events are popular all over the world. The Model United Nations is a simulation of the real life work of the United Nations and the agencies of the UN. The UNNC Model United Nations Association was founded in September 2006. Activities include an annual Model United Nations Conference and speaking contest. Members come together to help each other prepare to be the elite in the fields of politics, culture and economy. Spanish SocietySpanish Society is an academic society for students who wish to improve their fluency in Spanish and soak up some Spanish culture. The group regularly conduct events which include: Spanish Corner and Spanish movie showings. Spanish DVDs are also available to all members. Travellers' ClubThis club allows students to really explore China and beyond with their new made friends. Visits have been made to a number of Chinese cities including Shanghai, Suzhou and Xiamen. The club have also travelled to Africa and Japan. Other clubs and societiesDebating SocietyDebating Society promotes independent and critical thinking among UNNC students. The society holds university debating competitions and participates in national and international competitions. UNNC and is the current host of the Ningbo Higher Education Debating Competition and the society won the 2010 award for 'Zhejiang’s Outstanding Student Society'. A full list of clubs and societies
