Mentoring scheme

Mentoring scheme

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China places great emphasis on helping our students develop links with business and industry. This way they find opportunities to gain workplace experience during vacations and hear first-hand about career pathways and how to get ahead after graduation.

Individuals who act as mentors, meanwhile, have the opportunity to identify our most talented graduates for possible employment with their organisations. Some of our mentors see their role as a way to hone their leadership abilities.

The mentoring scheme of The University of Nottingham Ningbo China aims to invite outstanding alumni as well as successful individuals from various fields to act as mentors for our undergraduates.

Sharing, inspiration and leadership are the main themes of this programme.

Reasons our students opt for a mentor include:

  • Access to experienced professionals in their field of study
  • Gaining insights into the industry they plan to enter
  • Development of interpersonal, communication and IT skills
  • Access to advice on how to plan a career path

New mentors welcome!

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China encourages productive partnerships between our students, from undergraduate to PhD level, and the wider community. We believe this helps focus our students on developing research interests that are highly relevant to modern business and industry.

We are also fostering links with big business in Ningbo and the wider community in Zhejiang and China in order to deliver on our commitment to produce world-changing research and undertake scientific discovery that has a significant impact on the world. These take the form of one-on-one engagements as well as interaction through the internet or email.

We welcome collaborations with non-university groups and see the mentor programme as a way to develop relationships between our students and organisations looking to partner with us. Our mentors come from a range of backgrounds, from public relations to the military.
