Shandong Agricultural University (SDAU),situated at the foot of the magnificent
Mount Tai,was founded in Jinan in 1906 with the original name of Shandong Higher
Agricultural School. Later in 1952, it was renamed Shandong Agricultural College
after many adjustments and integration. The college moved to Tai’an in 1958 and
was renamed Shandong Agricultural University in 1983. In July 1999, the former
Shandong Agricultural University incorporated two schools, Shandong Water
Conservancy College and Shandong Forestry School, to form the current Shandong
Agricultural University. At present, SDAU is a multi-disciplinary university
with agricultural science as its advantage and life science as a distinctive
feature, covering many areas of both Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
Currently, SDAU has a fulltime enrollment of 31,000 students, of which more than 3,000 are graduate students. There are additionally 13,000 students enrolled in adult education programs. SDAU has a total number of 2,598 staff members, among which 657 are professors and associate professors. SDAU has 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Faculty members of SDAU have won a number of national and provincial titles and awards, including 8 awards of the National Hundred-Thousand-Ten-Thousand Talent Project, 4 awards of Young and Middle-aged State-ranking Experts with Outstanding Contribution, 3 National Outstanding Teachers, 1 innovative team supported by the Supporting Plan for Cheung Kong Scholars and Innovative Teams, 3 National Teaching Teams and 9 Taishan Scholars.
