A Welcome from the President
Beihang University (BUAA), established on 25th October 1952, was the first university of aeronautical and astronautical engineering and academic research throughout China. Early in the 1950s, BUAA became known as the 16 key universities in China. At the beginning of the new millennium, BUAA was officially chosen by the Government as a member of China’s Action Plan for the Revitalization of Education in the 21st Century.
Today, Beihang University has developed into an open, comprehensive and research-oriented university with focuses on aeronautics, astronautics and informatics. In order to be able to take on interdisciplinary teaching and research work of science, technology and engineering, the University has also grown to create broad schools and departments of Aeronautics, Astronautics, Electronics , Computer Science and Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Instrumentation Science, Biology and Bioengineering, Software Engineering, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Foreign Languages and Literatures, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Educational Technology, Humanities, Social Science, Economics and Management, Law, Engineer Education, and Pilot Training.
The University, as a center of not only high-quality education, but also scientific research and technological innovation, has become one of the most important hubs of intellectual life in China.
