Brief Introduction of BUAA
Beihang University (BUAA), formerly known as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, was founded in 1952 and was the first university of aerospace technology in China and now has developed into an open, comprehensive. research-oriented with focuses on aeronautics, astronautics. informatics.. Since the 1950s, BUAA has excelled as one of the 16 key state universities in China. Through more than 50 years of development, BUAA has grown into a science and technology university with aerospace features, combining disciplines in science, engineering, liberal arts, law, economics, management and education. There are currently 24,000 students enrolled in BUAA, including over 10,000 postgraduate students. Doctoral programs are available in 49 fields, master programs in 144 fields and bachelor programs in 48 subjects.
BUAA is Beihang (BUAA) equipped with advanced laboratories and teaching apparatus. BUAA currently employs over 3000 faculty members, including more than 460 professors and 1000 associate professors. Over 130 professional laboratories – of which 35 are listed as state or ministry key laboratories – serve students and staff. Seating more than 4,000 people, Beihang Library is one of China’s top university libraries.
BUAA is qualified to admit all categories of international students, including those sponsored by the Chinese Government Scholarship. The first group of international students, 7 candidates studying for masters’ degrees, registered at BUAA in 1993. By the end of 2008 over 800 international students were enrolled in BUAA. 400 international students were studying for their doctoral, master, or bachelor degrees, and 400 were studying the Chinese language in the Chinese Training Center (CLTC).
The International School was established in 2004 to cater to the development of International education in BUAA. It is responsible for developing educational programs and extracurricular activities for international students. The office is in charge of applications, entry examinations, admissions, registration, and the study and daily life of international students. The International School not only offers the master’s, doctoral and bachelor degree programs, but also provides long and short Chinese training programs, professional training courses, summer school in space technology, and many other specialized programs to meet the increasing demands of international education. CLTC was established in 1994 and is noted for its excellent and experienced teaching staff, as well its access to modern multimedia teaching facilities. The International School of BUAA is committed to providing only the highest quality in education, and maintains meticulous academic requirements for international students.
The International School of BUAA is well known for providing international students a large range of extracurricular activities, such as table tennis, badminton and basketball, as well as singing Chinese songs, creating photographic exhibitions, and studying Chinese calligraphy and Chinese pictures. Every semester the International School organizes trips for international students to visit scenic areas and cultural relics in and around the city of Beijing.

The campus of BUAA is adjacent to the Zhongguancun High-Tech Park of Beijing and is known for its beautiful environment, convenient transportation and various facilities, some of which include an international student dormitory, gymnasiums, swimming pools and other sports facilities.
