The College of Electromechanical Engineering was developed from School of Engineering, which was established in 1969. We offer two master's degree programs in Agricultural Mechanization and Engineering, Agricultural Electrification and Automation, four bachelor's degree programs in Machinery Design, Making and Automation, Agricultural Mechanization and Automation, Agricultural Electrification and Automation, Electrical Engineering and Automation, and one associate's degree program in Electromechanical Engineering. The full-time students at present are 1354, including 26 postgraduate students, 1261 undergraduate students and 67 students for 2-3 years programs. There are 66 faculty members, including 7 professors, 15 associate professors, 7 senior engineers, among which there are 1 doctor advisor and a provincial academic leader. The school has 7 basic teaching units, an Agricultural Electromechanical Institute, and an experiment center which consists of agricultural machinery lab, metal work lab, electrical engineering lab, computer networks lab, a teaching workshop and an engineering training center, with total assets of the equipments worth more than 20 million yuan.
The college puts great emphasis on scientific and academic researches. Agricultural Mechanization and Engineering has experienced great improvement and stands as one of the most important fields in the university. 38 projects have been completed in recent years, among which 9 projects belong to national or provincial level, 33 patents have been granted. Consequently, many honors have been awarded by the authorities, such as one 2nd Award and two 3rd Awards for Science and Technology Progress of Shandong Province, one 2nd Award and two 3rd Awards for the Excellent Science and Technology Fruits of Shandong Province, one 1st Award for Agricultural Machinery Innovation of Shandong Province. There are 11 national or provincial level projects under work currently. More than 500 academic papers have been published home and abroad in recent years, in which 120 papers published in first-class journals in China, 35 papers included in EI or SCI. There are also 19 books published.
A number of the staff members serve for several national or international organizations and the school maintains very active academic activities. The school hosts the Chinese Branch of International Association on Mechanization of Field Experiments, Agricultural Mechanization Specialized Committee of Shandong Agricultural Mechanization Academic Society. Several members work as the leaders of some academic organizations, for example, the vice-president of the Field Breeding Mechanization Association, the routine director of Chinese Agricultural Mechanization Academic Society, members of the agricultural expert council of Shandong provincial government, the deputy director of Shandong Agricultural Engineering Association, the director of Shandong Agricultural Mechanization Academic Society, the director of Shandong Metal-Work Organization, the director of Shandong Electrical Engineering Association. We have maintained long-standing cooperation and communications with Agricultural University of Norway, Lincoln University in New Zealand, Stevens Institute of Technology in the US, and several other teaching and researching organizations. The national and international academic conferences held here bring positive influences on the academic circles as well as the community. The school has established close ties with 18 enterprises in terms of technological cooperation and communication.
The college offers various opportunities for students to study here. Provided by Shandong Huifeng Group, "Huifeng" scholarships finance outstanding researchers and excellent students every year. Two students have won "Jianhao" scholarship. The students have also got the 3rd prizes of the "Challenge Cup" National Competition of Chinese College Students' Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Achievements in 2003 and 2004. Many students have displayed their talents and gained praises in their working places after graduation.
