Introduction

Students who study biomedical/ pharmaceutical engineering usually begin their education by gaining an understanding of general engineering and the life sciences. Education courses start with mathematics and statistics, before moving on to more advanced multidimensional biomedical signal generation and analysis, medical informatics and biomedical modelling and simulation.


Career Options

There are a wide range of career options available for graduates of biomedical/ pharmaceutical engineering programs. Biomedical engineers may be employed in hospitals, universities, and research facilities of medical and educational institutions, often in a coordinating or interfacing function. Biomedical engineers working in research institutions often oversee equipment and laboratories, or collaborate with researchers in medicine, nursing, etc.
