Why NJUPT

Established in 1942 and located in the city of Nanjing in the most dynamic economic zone of Yangtze River Delta and internationalization of higher education, NUPT is co-administrated by the Jiangsu Government and the

Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It has 4 campuses, 21 departments and 20 research centers, with 2300 faculty members, offering 53 programs for bachelor’s degree, 42 for master’s degree and 14

for doctoral degree to 30,000 students. The three disciplines including Materials Science, Engineering, and Chemistry have entered the top global 1% of the ESI Rankings, while Telecommunication and Information Engineering and Opto-electronic Engineering rank among the domestic top 20 disciplines.

NUPT ranks the 80th among the “China’s Top Research Institutes”, the 61st among the top Hundred Universities in China. It is among the first group of academic members of the International Telecommunication

Union (ITU). As early as 1990, NUPT became an APT (Asia-Pacific Telecommunity) Training Center in China. Over the past two decades, NUPT has trained 26 groups of personnel from 29 countries and regions. It has established long-term interschool academic cooperation with over 20 famous foreign universities and research institutes and are running almost 40 international student exchange programs. Since 2007, NUPT started to run 4 joint programs with a U.S. education institution. Throughout the past 9 years, 1500 students have graduated (another 1200 students are now at school). NUPT has accumulated rich experiences and has a well-grasp of policy regarding the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education. Its Sino-foreign programmes have received wide recognition and strong support from the provincial and central governments.
