About NJUPT

Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT), selected in China's Double First Class Project for building world-class universities and disciplines, has made remarkable contributions to the founding and development of the People’s Republic of China. JUPT is also one of the selected universities for prior development by Jiangsu Provincial Government. Its predecessor was the Wartime Postal Administration Cadre Training Class located in Shandong Anti-Japanese Base, which was established in 1942 and one of the earliest schools of the CPC and its army for training proper telecommunication talents.


NJUPT has a well-structured faculty of over 2600 people, including 984 supervisors to doctoral and master students. Among full-time faculty, 60.67% have advanced professional titles, and 95.70% possess doctoral or master’s degrees. A Nobel laureate has joined NJUPT faculty, taking the lead among universities in Jiangsu Province. NJUPT boasts no lack of high-end talents on its faculty team.

Centering on the goals set by the university, the university will accelerate the development of world-class disciplines and high-level university in Jiangsu province, comprehensively improve the development quality, and steadily improve its educational level and general strength.

NJUPT now runs three post-doctoral stations, three first-level disciplines authorized to offer doctorate degree, 14 second-level disciplines authorized to offer doctorate degree, 21 first-level discipline authorized to offer master’s degree, 32 second-level discipline authorized to offer master’s degree, 15 profession-oriented master’s degree programs (fields), and 55 undergraduate programs. Four programs of the university are among the world’s top 1% on the ranking by ESI. NJUPT is home to one National Key Discipline (in incubation), seven National Special Major Trial Programs, one Trial Program of National Reform on Different Majors, four majors certified by the National Engineering Education Accreditation Association, and eight National Excellence Initiative Programs. NJUPT is also a major participator in two National Collaborative Innovation Centers 2011, and plays a leading role in two Provincial Collaborative Innovation Centers 2011. NJUPT boasts no lack of high-end talents on its faculty team: six members (including Dually Employed Academicians) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS); three specially appointed professors who are “Chang Jiang Scholars” of the Ministry of Education; one Chair Professor who is “Chang Jiang Scholar” of the Ministry of Education; three “Young Chang Jiang Scholar”; four recipients of the “Outstanding Youth of China Fund”; four Scholars of the “New Century National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project”; ten “One Thousand Talents Program” Scholars; two “One Thousand Young Talents ” Scholars; three Leading Scholars of the Ten Thousand Talents Plan; three Outstanding Young Scholars of the “Ten Thousand Talents Program”; six recipients of the “Outstanding Youth Science Fund”; one Scholar of “CAS One Hundred Talents Program”; one National Teaching Master; one National Excellent Teacher; 46 recipients of Special Government Funds; three Young and Middle-aged Experts of Outstanding Contributions; 11 Scholars of “New Century Excellent Talent Support Project” of the MoE; one Nobel Laureate (the first to have been brought into a Province-administered university in Jiangsu); four members of foreign academies of sciences; and seven IEEE Fellows. The university now has one National Innovative Team in Key Research Areas, one team of “Chang Jiang Scholars and Innovation Team Development Program”, and one teaching group enlisted by MOE as “Teaching Team in Honor of Professor Huang Danian”. Quite a number of faculty members are also directors, committee members and specialists in such institutions as International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Advisory Committee of Higher Education Institutions of MoE, China Institute of Communications, Chinese Institute of Electronics, China Computer Federation, Chinese Association of Automation and China Statistical Association.
