A.When to arrive
We recommend you arrive in Shanghai one week before the registration date to allow time to find accommodation and get used to the new environment.

How to get the Registration Form of Temporary Residence?
If you live on campus, you may get this from the International Exchange Service Center (Bldg.25 on campus map) when you check in.
If you choose to rent an apartment off- campus, you MUST:
Sign a contract with the landlord and ask him or her to apply for a Security License for the apartment.
Ask for Registration Form of International Students Living Off Campus to the International Students Office.
Go to local police station to fill in the Registration form of Temporary Residence with your passport, copy of passport, one passport-sized photo, contract, Security License for the apartment (Provided by the landlord) and Registration Form of International Students Living Off Campus.

Within 24 hours upon your arrival,
you must register at the local police station if you live off-campus and get the Registration Form of Temporary Residence.
You need to submit Registration form of Temporary Residence when you apply for residence permit or renew your visa. Students should keep the form well in case of any check.
During your study here, if your address is changed, you need to go through the same procedures again within 24 hours after moving to your new place.

What will happen if you arrive too early?
Most students arrive with an X visa which is only valid for 30 days. Before the expiration date, you must go through the Academic Enrollment and Registration and have all the required documents prepared with the assist of the International Students Office. Please note that there might not be staff in the International Students Office during the vacation. Therefore, if you come too early, you will take the risk of your visa expiring by the beginning of the semester and you may have to go out of China.

B.How to get to ECNU?

Public transport at airports
Departure from Hongqiao Airport:
It will cost about 40RMB for the 30 minutes’ taxi drive from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to ECNU.
Subway Line 2 to Zhongshan Park, and then take No.67 bus to ECNU.
Departure from Pudong International Airport:
It will cost about 200RMB for 1 hour taxi drive from Pudong International Airport to ECNU.
Subway Line 2 to Zhongshan Park, and then take No.67 bus to ECNU.

 Safety Tips: Ignore offers of transportation from solicitors in the terminal. Go to ground transportation information counters, bus stops, and taxi dispatchers for safe and legitimate transportation. After arrival, you should ask for a receipt to the taxi driver.
