SICAS Reporter Interviewed WHU Student,Sembi
SICAS Reporter: What were you doing before you came to Wuhan University?
Sembi: I graduated from the University of Alberta, Canada with a double Bachelors
major in Economics and Chinese language and literature in June 2011.
SICAS Reporter: Why did you choose to come to China to study in Wuhan University?
Sembi: I was very determined to be a part of Wuhan University. I am especially
interested with the international focus along with the challenging and
rewarding environment of the program. This is the main reason that I choose
this university. Additionally, living in Wuhan will let me experience different diverse
cultures and traditions and also enrich my Chinese language skill.
SICAS Reporter: What do you most like about your programme?
Sembi: My experiences studying this programme are exciting. I have the opportunity to
interact with a number of students from many different countries. What I like
most is the professional attitude and the study environment that was provided
for me. Another thing I liked was the close knit and interpersonal
communications that were prevalent between professors and students. Every
professor also believed in their students and seemed to really think about my
future growth and professional progress.
SICAS Reporter: Who is your favorite professor?
Sembi: Like I have said before in previous question, all the professors are very nice
to their students and sincerely care about us. That is why to name only one
favorite professor is hard to do. Two names came up after I read this question,
Professor Sajal Kabiraj and Professor Tariq Malik. Both of them are great
teachers that I will never forget. Not only are they incredibly knowledgeable
about management but they presented the information in a way that was fun, easy
to remember and always made it sound interesting! They always make the class
laugh and always had everyone’s attention. I personally really respect them.
SICAS Reporter: How do you think your programme will help you with your future career?
Sembi: China has continued to evolve into one of the most important and powerful
countries in business. China has fascinated me for a very long time especially
in the areas of language and culture thus I have decided to advance my
education by attaining my Master Degree in Management and especially here in
China. Even after just one year of study at Wuhan University, I am certain that
this program will certainly enhance both my entrepreneur skill and potential to
enable me to achieve my goal of becoming an expert in the world marketing.
SICAS Reporter: What do you do in Wuhan when you have free time?
Sembi: There are tons of things to do with free time in Wuhan . It can be something I
really enjoy, such as sightseeing with friends, exploring Chinese food by
eating outside, or taking Chinese language classes.
SICAS Reporter: What is your future plan?
Sembi: I want an entrepreneurial career just like my parents. Our family has our own
business, which is the reason why I am interested in this programme. Since
before I was born, my parents had started Rice Mill Company Limited and
operated it successfully ever since. I have learned a lot about
entrepreneurship in real life experiences from my parents and gained valuable
lessons in business administration and marketing area. However, I do not think
that this is enough, in order to fulfill my objective to become a successor of
the company I need to have more than what my parents have had. Therefore, I
believe that a MSc international Business management from Wuhan University can
help me to achieve this objective.
