Hundreds of International Students Started A New Journey at Wenzhou Medical University

Weznhou Medical University 2015 batch freshmen students opening ceremony was held at Chashan campus Xuguang hall. 125 students from more than twenty countries including India, South Africa and the 20 members from Thailand Confucius Institute at Burapha University’s autumn camp gathered together to celebrate this unforgettable moment. President Qu Jia and leaders from relevant departments and secondary schools attended the ceremony.

President Qu Jia warmly welcomes the new international students who came across the globe in pursuit of their dreams to China, and shares the Wenzhou Medical University's alumni Jian Zhou outstanding deeds and achievement and also two weeks ago, Youyou Tu, a Chinese scientist, was awarded 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for developing Artemisinin case share with everyone to encourage the students to work hard, learn to teach yourself, to become a self learner, to be deeply committed to lifelong learning. Teachers representative Ronghan Wu shared his unforgettable experience in Africa with the students, and hope students will cherish this time to study abroad, knowledge of East and West, and to broaden their horizons in life.

Sumayyah as the representative of freshmen graduate students conceal her excitement on stage. As an old student at WMU, she won the Chinese Government Scholarship this year and has the opportunity to once again return to her Alma mater to continue her further studies. Familiar with the campus, honorable teachers, a new tomorrow now turned to sailing and exploring the unknown infinite power. Sumayyah hope with enthusiasm, persistence, and with humble attitude to write a new story of her old love with WMU. Sophomore student representative Leanne recalled her last year study experience and encourage the freshmen students to maximize their own potential by carefully planning their study life. Subsequently from South Africa the freshmen representative Tahila expressed her gratitude and looking forward to the upcoming study life.

Finally, all the medical students stood up and solemnly swear “ The medical Oath” and bring opening ceremony to a successful ending.

It is reported that this year is the first time WMU recruit pharmacy and nursing major undergraduate students. There are currently more than 650 students from 55 countries and across 5 continents are studying at our university. At present, the students in our school has extended to self-supported students, the Chinese government scholarship students and university scholarship students, the Confucius institute scholarship students (non-degree) in three categories. The number of international graduate students in our university has reached 308 people.
