Drug Crimes

The ‘UN Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic’ states that Drug crimes including the illegal production, manufacture, sale, transiting, importing or exporting narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, planting drug-grown raw materials. Besides the preparations for carrying out the above activities and the relative harmful activities are also treated as crimes.

Types of Drug

Opium is a narcotic formed from the latex released by cutting the immature seed pods of poppies. It is most frequently processed chemically to produce heroin for the illegal drug trade.

Morphine is the principal active agent in opium (20%). It acts directly on the central nervous system to relieve pain. Morphine has a high potential for addiction; tolerance and both physical and psychological dependence develop rapidly.

Marijuana is the most widely used illegal drug in the world because of its low price. It is often called a gateway drug because frequent use can lead to the use of stronger drugs.

Heroin, also known as diamorphine among other names, is an opioid most commonly used as a recreational drug for its euphoric effects. Common side effects include respiratory depression, dry mouth, euphoria, addiction. Other side effects can include abscesses, infected heart valves, blood borne infections, constipation.

Ketamine is a quick acting anesthetic that is legally used in both human and animals as sedative. Users may become delirious, hallucinate, and lose their sense of time and reality.

Drug Prevention

Never pursuing enjoyment blindly, always hold your bottom line to keep away from the bad temptation.

Always keep vigilant against drugs,  eliminate bad habits and avoid exposure to places where teenagers are not suitable.

Hold a solid attitude, never try to take durg for any reasons.

Chapter II 

Categories and Application of the Punishments Thereto

Article 72

Anyone who commits any of the following acts shall be detained for not less than 10 days but not more than 15 days, and may be concurrently fined not more than RMB 

2, 000 yuan. If the circumstances are relatively lenient, 

he (she) shall be detained for not more than 5 days or shall be fined not more than RMB 500 :

(1) Illegally holding less than 200 grams of opium, heroin or methyl amphetamine, or a small quantity of other drugs; 

(2) Providing any drug to any other person;  

(3) Taking or injecting any drug; or   

(4) Coercing or cheating any medical worker to prescribe any narcotic or psychotropic drug.
   

NOTE: To a foreigner who acts against the administrtion of public security, will be required to leave the country within a time limit.
