二、Entry and Enrollment
Q1:Can international students enter mainland China as usual for the Fall semester?
The Fall semester of Zhejiang University will commence as scheduled. According to the current situation of epidemic prevention and control:International students who are inside mainland China are expected to arrive at the university to register and take part in offline learning. Those who are outside mainland China cannot enter the country due to travel restrictions and entry requirements, but can register online for online learning.
Q2:Is there any estimated time when international students who are outside mainland China will be allowed to enter?
Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, there is no estimated time the university can provide. You are advised to consult the Chinese embassy/consulate in your place.
三、Registration of New Students
Q3:How should I check and confirm my admission status?
Applicants could check and confirm your admission status through the online application system. The updated status of the admitted applicants is “Application Accepted”.Meanwhile, the name list of the awardees of the CSC Scholarship (Chinese University Program) and the Zhejiang University Scholarship can be found in the Notice column of the web site of the International College.
Q4: When can new students receive the admission documents?
The scanned copy of the Admission Notice will first be uploaded in the online application system (excluding the CSC scholarship awardees). As to the postal delivery of the hard copy of your admission documents, please wait for further notice. Awardees of the CSC scholarship, for the time being, would not be able to see the scanned copy of the admission notice in the system yet, please wait for further notice.
Q5:My contact information has been changed in the past months. I am thus a bit worried that I would not be able to receive the admission documents and the latest information from the university. How should I inform the university about my new information?
A special module, Freshmen Gateway, has been set up in the online application system. All the admitted students (excluding the CSC scholarship awardees) shall immediately log onto the system to visit that module to provide us with your updated information as required. More notices and instructions will be given to all the new students from the International College’s web site and the Freshmen Gateway module.
Q6:How should new students who are inside mainland China register with the university?
New students who are now inside mainland China should follow the university’ s instructions to come to the campus for registration. The planned registration dates are September 7 and 8. Please pay close attention to notices from the university for more detailed instructions.
Q7:How should new students who are out of mainland China register with the university?
New students out of mainland China should follow the university’s instructions to register online. Please pay close attention to notice from the university for more detailed instructions.
Q8:How should new students pay the tuition fees?
Self-supporting students and awardees of the partial scholarships should pay the tuition fee before the official registration. Payment could be made by the online application system. Or you may go to the bank to wire the tuition fee to the university’ s bank account (please make sure to put your application number and name in the Remarks) and upload the bank receipt of your payment to the online application system.
Q9:I am currently inside mainland China and my visa is going to expire soon. What shall I do then?
Under the current circumstances, the entry & exit administration in different cities may carry out different policies. Please consult them for confirmed information. If you have received the scanned copy of the Admission Notice through the system, you may show them the document when you consult the entry & exit administration in where you stay.
Q10:I am right now out of mainland China. How should I apply for visa to enter the country?
Decisions about when to deliver the hard copy of the admission documents to the admitted students will be made based on the relevant government policies. At the same time, you may also contact and consult the Chinese embassy/consulate in your place to follow the updated information about visa application.
四、Registration of Current Students
Q11:When shall current students register with the university?
According to the academic calendar, undergraduate students shall register on September 10, and graduate students on September 11.
Q12:Do I have to return to the university for registration?
Current students who are inside mainland China shall come to the campus for registration. Those who are outside mainland China and cannot enter the country due to travel restrictions and entry requirements can register online.
Q13:How to register?
According to the university’s arrangements, all current students shall register through the Zhejiang University International Students Management System. Please log onto the system between September 1 and 6 for registration. (Username: student number; Default Password: last 6 digits of your passport number. Please modify the password after logging in.)
After online registration, students who are inside mainland China shall go to the Student Affairs Office of the International College to complete on-site registration. For those who are outside mainland China, please check registration result online. Once the system shows the registration has been approved, your registration is completed.
Q14:If I cannot register due to illness or other special circumstances, what should I do?
If you cannot register due to illness or other special circumstances, please ask for leave in time according to the students status regulations. You can contact the Student Affairs Office of the International College or apply online through the International Students Management System. If you fail to ask for leave within the first two weeks of the new semester, you will be deemed to leave the university without permission and drop out of the university.
Q15:How should current students pay the tuition fees? If I study online, is there a reduction in tuition fees?
Before online registration, self-supporting students shall go to the bank to wire the tuition fee to the university’s bank account (please make sure to put your application number and name in the Remarks).
Please keep the bank receipt of your payment and provide it during the online/offline registration. For tuition standards and bank account information, please refer to the website of the International College. The online tuition fee standard is the same with offline courses。
Q16:How to apply for suspension or resumption of schooling?
Please complete application for suspension or resumption between September 1 and 11 by contacting the Student Affairs Office of the International College. You are required to fill in forms and provide supporting documents, which can be handled in person or by others. You also have to go through the procedures of check-out and leaving the university if you apply for suspension.
五、On-campus Accommodation Reservation
Q17:How can new students reserve a dormitory?
For the time being, new students don’t need to reserve a dormitory. You can directly apply for on-campus accommodation when you come to the campus for on-site registration.
Q18:How can current students renew on-campus accommodation?
Students in Zijingang Campus and Huajiachi Campus can renew accommodation through online application. Please contact the international students dorms for detailed information.
六、Tuition & Scholarship
Q19:I understand the COVID-19 situation will cause my courses move from face-to-face to online, will this bring any change to the tuition fees for the 2020-2021 academic year?
The faculty and staff members of Zhejiang University are all committed to providing students with a complete, full and enriched semester of high quality educational opportunities for the Fall 2020 semester, regardless of whether the courses will be conducted in person or provided online. In accordance with the government and university policies, tuition fees for the 2020-2021 academic year will not be altered at this time.
Q20:I am a new student with scholarship. How will my scholarship be issued after I register as required?
For students who complete on-site registration as required, the scholarship will be normally issued according to the related regulations.
For students who complete online registration as required, the scholarship will be issued once they arrive in China, register on-site and pass the required qualification review.
