ZJUT | Enrollment Guidance for International Student of 2022

The Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) is a comprehensive key university owned by the Zhejiang Provincial Government, and it was established in the Year 1953. The ZJUT is situated in Hangzhou, a picturesque historical and cultural city in China.

The University now consists of 3 campuses, covering a total area of over 213 hectares, with a floor space of 840,000 square metres. It has 22 colleges and 2 departments. The present University, as a provincial key comprehensive university, offers not only engineering courses, but also a large range of disciplines like science, liberal arts, law, agriculture, philosophy, economics, pharmaceutical science, management, education and art. And with a national key laboratory and a post-doctoral program, the University is entitled to confer degrees of master, doctor, MBA. In addition, it has been granted the right to recommend outstanding undergraduates as candidates for graduate programs in other universities without entrance examinations and the right to recruit international students as well as students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. 

At present, there are about 30,000 full-time students. Currently more than 800 international students from many countries are studying at ZJUT. The University has a staff of 3,200, amongst whom over 390 are professors, 880 are associate professors, and 790 have PhD degrees. Now ZJUT has one academician of CAE (Chinese Academy of Engineering) and three academicians of CAE and CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) whom ZJUT share with other institutions. The University has around 20 PhD programmes, 120 postgraduate programmes, and 60 undergraduate programmes. The value of its assets totals about RMB 2.69 billion. Its 60,000-square-metre library houses over 5.3 million books (incl. electronic books) and over 17,000 kinds of Chinese and foreign journals.

Students can bring their own bedding or buy it from the school (660 yuan per set); Deposit 800 yuan.

1.Chinese Government Scholarships

Chinese government scholarship applicants must apply through the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General in the country where the applicant is located. When filling in the "Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship", you need to fill in "Zhejiang University of Technology" in the first field of "Applicant Institution".

Zhejiang University of Technology has established a certain number of freshman scholarships for international students with good academic attitudes and excellent academic results. To apply, please fill in the Application Form for International Freshman Scholarship of Zhejiang University of Technology and submit it with other application materials at the same time.

1. Undergraduate Program：

(1)Over 18 years old and hold a minimum of high school diploma.

(2)Requirements for students taught in Chinese: HSK level must be band 4 or above and pass the interview from ZJUT; for those fail to meet the entry requirements (HSK of band 4), after passing the interview from ZJUT, they will receive one year’s conditional admission based on their performance at university’s scheduled interview and review.

(3)Requirements for students taught in English: 1)Native English Speaker or English as official language, 2) IELTS 5.0/TOEFL 60, 3) Instructed in English at high school 4) Other English Language Competence are accepted by our university.

(1)Master Degree application: Bachelor’s degree with achieving HSK 5 or higher; PHD Degree application: Master’s degree with achieving HSK 6 or higher, good health condition

(2)For those applying for programs instructed in English, HSK grading is not a must

(3)Requirements for students taught in English: 1) Native English Speaker or English as official language 2) IELTS5.5/TOEFL80 3) Instructed in English at undergraduate period 4) Other English Language Competence admitted by ZJUT.

(4)Attention: For those who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens, according to Document No.83 (2009) of Ministry of Education of the PRC, must become foreign citizens before April 30, 2018, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2018 to April 30, 2022 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year)

1. Application form with ID photo.

2. A photocopy of passport.

3. Senior high school diploma.

4. Graduating high school students can provide pre-graduation Certificate. After admission, the original graduation certificate or notarized copy should be submitted.

5. Transcripts for all the courses in senior high school.

6. HSK certificate (for Chinese-instructed program applicants). After admission, the original copy should be submitted

7. TOEFL/IELTS or other score report of English language test (for English-instructed program applicants, whose native language is not English). After admission, the original copy should be submitted.

8. Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens should submit (1) cancellation certificate of Chinese citizenship (2) current citizenship certificate (3)Exit and Entry Record on passport, from July 30th ,2018 to July 30th , 2022.

9. Applicants less than 18 years (by September 1st, 2022) should submit (1) Letter of Guarantee (who must be an adult residing in Hangzhou) (2) notarized Authorization Letter written by parents, copies available.

10. Remittance receipt of the application fee, copies available.

11. Two recommendation letters in English or Chinese (for graduate application). Letters must include phone number or email address.
