Shenyang University of Technology is located in the Iron West district of Shenyang, which is known as the "Oriental Ruhr". Shenyang is the capital and most populous city of Liaoning Province. Shenyang is one of northeast China's major centres of finance, culture, commerce, and transportation. Shenyang is especially known for its museums, palace and royal tombs: the Mukden Palace is one of the only two remaining palace complex in China. The Liaoning Provincial Museum and Shenyang Foundry Museum are noted for their plentiful collections. Fuling Tomb and Zhaoling Tomb are two famous royal tombs in China. The city is a major high-speed railways, intercity railways and air-transport hub served by Shenyang Taoxian International Airport(one of Eight regional hub airports).
Shenyang University of Technology was founded in 1949. In 1995, it began to recruit international students, and in 2001, it began to cooperate with Griffith University and Benedictine University to run international schools at the undergraduate and graduate levels. It has accumulated rich experience in running schools and formed a training scale of more than 1,700 students.
Over the years, Shenyang University of Technology has enhanced it strategy of internationalization aiming to attract students and teachers from all parts of the world.
